Dear Friend,
I’m 21-years old writing this and I cannot express how grateful I am that I have realized a friend that you make in life can be so much more than just a person whom you have class or work with. My friends have taught me that the sky is gold even when the ground is cracked.
You make car rides home a journey I never want to end.
At the time it feels just like a casual conversation, but, looking back, those talks can be SO therapeutic. Venting about my day or my current family situation to you makes me feel safe and sound. You are my life guru.
You let me make mistakes and enable me to learn from them.
I’m guilty of making countless bad decisions and commenting foolish remarks. You remind me to take a step back and analyze situations instead degrading me. I cannot express to you how happy that makes me.
You help me more than I can help you.
Sometimes, I contemplate what on Earth I would do without you. You are selfless and fail to realize it. Helping me even when knowing I can’t help you back is almost second-nature to you.
Now I know why all the trees change in the fall. Our friendship is heard in the silence and seen in the dark. You are my person and I love you for all that you do for me.
Love with appreciation shooting through the roof,
Josh at 21-years old
