Dear Fandoms,
You don't know me, but I know you. I am one of your millions of fans that has dedicated their time to watch you succeed. This isn't just a pat on the back either. I have entered the fan bases to find a way to support you in every way, every step of the way. That is where you came in, fandoms. You are what brought me closer to the people I love, that are off in the big world of fame and fortune. There is something truly beautiful about the whole thing. People from across the world can come together and bond over their love for anything ranging from book series to boy bands. The sky is the limit. It is hard to believe, but those whom you represent bring so much more than joy to their fans. They bring acceptance, friendship, and something we can depend on when it feels like we have nothing left. A lot of us get shamed for being a part of such a thing. It can go as far as us being called crazy. Maybe we are, but not in the way they think. We are standing by the things and people we love. So we push through the name calling and ridicule. The people I have met because of you are some of the greatest people I know. We have a bond that is like no other, because we have an understanding like no other.
Something that I really want to say to you, fandoms, is thank you. Thank you for the friendships, the love, and a place of belonging. Before you I was alone in my thoughts, but you opened up a world to new friends, and a new family. I wish everyone was a part of something as spectacular as a fandom.
Since that first day I stumbled upon you, I have grown tremendously. I sometimes wonder what life would be like if I had not found you; if I had not listened to that first song, watched that first episode, or read that first book. It is hard to imagine where I would be if I had never opened that door. I feel blessed though, that I will never need to find out what I would be doing without you. I speak for every fangirl and fanboy out there when I say you truly mean the world to us. Life can be difficult, and you are the right when everything else goes wrong. Stay strong and welcome in the new generations to come. Those who are with you now are not going anywhere anytime soon. You opened the door, and now we plan to stay, through thick and thin, until the last book, the last episode, and the last concert. And let me tell you a little secret: even after the curtains close, I guarantee we will still stand beside you and the people we love, keeping the memory alive of those who simply, kept us alive.
Thank you for the memories,
Fangirl.
Personal thank you to my fandoms: "The Walking Dead," "The Maze Runner" Series, "Supernatural," One Direction, "Teen Wolf," and so much more. All the love. xxx
