To The Senior Friend Who'll Be Gone Next Year

You're an amazing being and I couldn't imagine high school without you.

To The Senior Friend Who'll Be Gone Next Year

To my dearest senior friend,

Congrats on the whole graduating thing.

I’m really proud of you and proud to say that I am your friend.

It’s been a crazy last year together: breakups, new relationships, friendships growing apart, planning for college and all of our other little adventures.

I’m glad that I have had the privilege to be your right hand woman along the way.

Now, I know we aren’t the type of friends that announce our love for each other or any of that gross stuff, but I have to put my pride aside and just say it.

I love you.

You’re one of my most special friends.

You’ve guided me through my high school career, not just as a friend, but as someone I looked up to… or down to, depending if you’re wearing heels or not.

Now that you’re going to be gone next year, I don’t know what I’ll do.

Who am I going to practice speeches with?

Who am I going to run musical lines with?

Who am I going to play catch with?

Who am I going to be without you?

That last question is actually really easy to answer. Without you, I’ll only be half of me.

Remember that time when we had two weeks to memorize a script? and we went to state?

Remember that time that we went to the mall and Hu Hot and our parents thought we went partying? We didn’t though, because we’re honestly too lame.

Remember prom? When we danced together all night long? We just forgot about our dates.

Remember the day you graduated and you told me not to cry? Well, when you weren’t looking, I did. I cried a lot.

You, my friend, have had a huge impact on my life in so many ways that I can’t even repay you.

I just wanted to let you know how special and important you really are.

I can’t wait to see you fly, and I can’t wait to be there to wipe your tears when you fall.

No matter how far you are or where you go, I will always love you and I’ll always be your home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
