Dear Childhood Best Friend,
We may have drifted apart a bit more than we thought we ever would, but that has not changed our dynamic in the slightest. I bet we could go years without seeing each other and then meet up one night and still have the time of our lives.
We have known each other for so long that even if we find new friends with connections that we cherish, we will never leave our friendship behind. We will always have each other and there is nothing that can change that since our bond is so deep that it is engraved into our souls. I do not think we made a blood pact at any point to stay friends, but that is probably because we do not need it to remain friends and also did not want to extract any diseases from each other. I know we are close, but come on.
You and I have gotten each other through some of the toughest times of our lives. As we developed through a number of stages and phases, changing almost every single day, there was one thing that never did change: us. Even when we were not even sure of who we were, we were always firm in the fact that we had each other. We may have modified our clothing, hair or locations in which we live, but we never did distort our friendship. I have always known you for the real you, and you have always known the same for me, even if I did decide to go a full year wearing the wackiest clothes around and using certain slang words way too much.
I am sure that if you popped by my home at this very moment, my parents would welcome you in with open arms, and yours would do the same if I waltzed into your home. Our parents know that we have always been there for each other, and even through any quarrels (which did not happen often), we would and will always have each other's backs.
No matter if you are in a different school, state or even side of the world down the line, you can always come to me with your problems, and I will always do my best to aid in the solutions to them. After so many years of dealing with all sorts of situations together, I know the ways in which you feel most comfortable solving conflicts, and I also know the extents that you may not be able to reach alone in order to solve certain problems. So guess what? I am here for you around the clock, and I am here for a reason.
I love you so much and I will always help you in whatever way I can. Although, if you ask me to help you move a dead body at some point, I may provide a bit of hesitation and a response that you may not enjoy, but I do not think we are going to have to worry about that. I mean, you are pretty talented on your own.
Just as Joseph Parry said, "make new friends, but keep the old; Those are silver, these are gold."
You will always be golden to me.
Love,
Your Childhood Best Friend
