Open Letter To My Boyfriend

You know who you are. You've been here since the beginning. I feel the overwhelming need thank you for dealing with my crazy self. You've been such a crucial part of my life whether it be five days, or five years. A lot of things have happened, and will continue throughout our time together, but it's okay. We'll get through everything together one step at a time. We have a beginning, middle, and hopefully no end to what we call our love. Let's start at the beginning, shall we?

Our beginning felt like a roller coaster of emotions. Oh, but I would give anything to go back to the time when, each day, we learned something new about each other, whether it was asking you what your favorite color is, or learning your adorable middle name. Remember those nights when we fell asleep texting each other stupid things? Those were my favorite, and I was okay with not having as much sleep.

Things almost seemed easier then, simpler. It was like our relationship had a new car smell to it. It was not without its challenges though. I hate to look back on our first fight when we thought the world was crashing down around us, and it was then, we knew our honeymoon phase had ended. The best memories though has to be our first kiss, and the first time we said "I love you" to each other. Our first kiss was so hesitant and awkward, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. We've gotten a bit better since then haven't we? The first time we even dared utter the words "I love you" to each other, it came from the heart, and even then, I knew you were the one for me.

The middle is where things began to get fun. Going on long car rides and small dates wherever we could find one. Things began to become more real here, and felt more strong between us. Although the fights in this time, to be put bluntly, sucked. Yelling and putting judgment on the other, got old really quick. All relationships hit this point though, it's a test to see if we're strong enough to handle each other, and in the end, we were. This is where we had heartfelt, deep conversations in the wee hours of the morning, and we learned each others secrets about our past. These are moments I hope continue to no end.

Now, we've made it this far. Things are so substantial, and feelings are too. Every day is a new adventure with you, and I cherish those moments whenever I can. At this point in my life you are one the greatest things to have ever happened to me. Not to sound cliche, but I love you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
