An Open Letter to My BFF in Military College

Dear My Best Friend in Military College,

First of all I miss you like crazy. But I am more proud of you than anything else. You are such a strong person and I always think of how lucky I am to have someone like you in my life. You are my best friend and not instantly talking is something that has been taking some getting used too. You have been there for me through everything and anything I have need you to be - and now it's my turn to do the same for you. The sacrifice you took to not have the typical college experience and to go ahead to do something that will be more a proactive option for you and your dream of defending our country is something I commend you for so much. Not everyone could do what you are doing, I for one certainly know that I can't. To do something like this you need to be not only physically strong but also emotionally and mentally. And I just still don't know how you do it. Adjusting to college is hard enough but if you add not being able to instantly talk to your parents or your friends when you had a bad day is something I don't understand how you are able to do. Your strength all around totally is something I wish that I had, and there are not enough words to express how much all of what you are doing amazes me.

I can't wait to hear all the stories you keep writing me about and saying they have to be face to face conversations. There are so many times I go to call you to cry about something that happened or I want you to be the first person I tell about something exciting - it's nearly a month since you moved in and I still almost do it everyday. You are one of the most genuine and supportive people I know and when you write about how hard it is sometimes my heart kinda breaks a little bit because I only want the best for you.

Writing you letters and emailing you when you can doesn't only make you happy and make your day - it makes mine. I have a very strong opinion about letter writing and I'm really happy that I get to write back and forth with you.

Keep doing what you are doing, because everyone is so proud of you. Keep writing because I will always write back. And I'll see you in October.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
