The moment we all decided on what colleges we would be going to, we also made sure to check how far we would be from one another. At first, it was hard to imagine all of us not being together all the time or not being able to meet at someone’s house and watch movies. Looking back, I can’t imagine my life without any of you. I have to admit I was terrified about what would happen to us after going to different colleges. I figured we would each find a new set of friends, and slowly, we would just lose touch with one another, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
To my best friends at different colleges, the first thing I want you all to know is that I love each of you. I love that as a group of friends, we each have our own individual personalities, and somehow we all just get along so well together. I love that I can say what I am thinking without being judged by any of you. I love that we are our own people and have our own separate interests, but we support each other no matter what. I honestly think that is why we get along so well, because we each bring something different to our friendship.
Now that we are in our second year of college with our third year just around the corner, it amazes me that we have managed to not only remain a close group of friends, but somehow, we have gotten closer. I remember worrying constantly that college would change us, but it has just made us grow together as friends. I smile when thinking about the years that we have spent together and the countless laughs we have had.
I have made new friends here in college and I know you all have done the same. I used to worry that we would all get too caught up in our new groups of friends that we would forget about each other, but the truth is that you all are irreplaceable. I constantly find myself laughing at something with my college friends and immediately want to tell each one of you about it.
The thing that makes me the happiest is the fact that even though we all live in separate towns with our own busy lives, we have managed to still get together, not just on winter and spring breaks. Taking trips to each other’s college towns and having a night out are memories that I hold so close to my heart. What makes me even happier is that, when we get together, it’s like we were never even apart.
I thank Snapchat, group messaging, texting, phone calls and FaceTime for keeping us connected even when we are apart. There isn’t anybody that gets me like each one of you. I wouldn’t want to go to summer jam, have a group messages, celebrate Fake Patty’s day, or talk inappropriately with any other group of girls. Thank you all for not only being my hometown best friends, but for being my lifelong sisters.
