An Open Letter To My Best Friend I Left At Home

Dear Other Half,

I just wanted to start off by apologizing for a few things: First off, I am so sorry that college has pulled me so far away from you. But I just want you to know that I am still here for you.

We have known each other for quite some time now and have created many amazing memories. Even though we are far away, I still cherish those memories dearly. We've seen each other at our highs and at our lows, helped each other through difficult times, encouraged each other to do the best that we can, and for that I am very grateful.

The next thing I wanted to apologize for, is not physically being there with you when you really need me. This honestly makes me so sad that you have to go through hardships without me there to tell you that it will all be okay, but just remember I am just a text or FaceTime away! You can call me at any time of day or night, and you bet I will drop everything to listen to you rant about the latest gossip, mean girls, boys, family, or just to have a quick laugh! Speaking of laughing, our laughs are endless when we are together because I swear we are the most hilarious people I know and should definitely have a reality television show.

Anyways, as my best friend at home, you have known me before I even went to college. You went through the biggest things of life with me. The ups and downs of other friendships for the both of us, the relationships, breakups, major life changes, and all around craziness. Without you, I honestly don't know where I'd be and I am so thankful for you.

Of course, college is fun but I look forward to the day I am home and get to make so many more memories with you. We always have the most fun times together because we are basically the same person. Being apart from your other half for months at a time is definitely one of the hardest things to do. It feels like it was just last week that we were saying ,"Only 35 more days!" And now it is down to six. Being reunited is right around the corner and I could not be more excited for our fun times this summer!

Love you more than life. Xoxo, your best friend.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
