First off, I got super lucky! Not only did I find my best friend, but I was lucky enough to have her as a roommate. I can’t lie and tell you some fairytale about how perfect our relationship was, because it wasn’t. But with each day, a new leaf was turned and I learned more about this amazing person.
Having a roommate always starts out in the “honeymoon” stage. This is the beginning of the relationship when you are still hiding a little bit of who you really are just so your roommate doesn’t become too afraid of who you really are. Then after a few weeks, you can expect your roommate to walk in the door in any mood ready to vent about something that happened. Or eat rice and chicken then burp louder than your stereo can play music. After the honeymoon stage, the relationship really blossoms. You have late night vent sessions, wardrobe exchanges, weekends spent watching "Criminal minds" and rants about homework assignments. These stages all went on the SnapChat fast forward filter because by the end of week one you were like my sister. We took a picture together every morning for the first semester and Snapchat became the most used app in the room. We went everywhere together and always tried to brighten each others day. Even after spending all day together I was still happy to head back to the room and play Monopoly or watch funny videos and laugh until we cried. Thank you for all these memories!
Pretty sure schoolwork is where we bonded the most. Don’t worry procrastination was always our best subject… too bad that was never a class we were graded on because our GPA’s would have been looking good. Lastly, you are amazing because your parents became mine and mine became yours. Conversations always consisted of our parents asking questions about both of us. You were there for every bad day I had (being a teenage girl there were lot’s of those) and always knew chocolate ice cream was what I wanted. You never failed to tell me when I looked like Chewbacca’s cousin and wake up with me at five in the morning to go workout at the gym. Thank you for being an amazing roommate and a lifelong friend. Words can’t describe what I would do to go back to those days…but I think a few of our photos could.
