An open letter to John Green.

The fault lies in us... maybe the stars are too precious to be blamed.

Dear John Green,

"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world...but you do have some say in who hurts you. I like my choices."
I like my choices... maybe that's why I let Augustus and Hazel hurt me.
The Fault in our Stars was one such book that not only made me laugh, cry and smile but it taught me some important lessons in life. We always complain that our is not worth anything, we want the world at our feet, we feel exasperated by the fact that we are just not able to satisfy ourselves but.... in this idiocy of self-fulfillment we forget to give a thought to those people who are battling death each day of their lives. For us the world can become a wish granting factory anytime, but for them it just cannot become one. Their life is calculated in minutes and even seconds but we often have years to think about.
People are diagnosed with cancer, tumours, rare diseases and many others illnesses that we haven't even heard of... and they are forced to think about death at a stage of life when they want to live it to the fullest. Honestly, the day I had completed reading the book, I realized that I had become pretty unreasonable by having this kind of an attitude in my mind. The way Augustus and Hazel lived happily even when their lives were a matter of some days or years was beautiful as well as painful.
How easily we miss the simple and little joys in our lives! We are fortunate enough to have a healthy and (hopefully) certain life, because we never know what might happen with us at the very next moment .... that is what makes me love this book the most- Enjoying one's life even when it is uncertain whether you will see tomorrow's sun or not.
I have some people in my life who have successfully battled cancer and by looking at them I feel that we are lucky to have life in our hands. I feel proud of them because they have fought the illness which so many people have fallen prey to. They inspire me to fight whatever situation comes in one's life. Keeping love ignited when you know that you might die any day is what makes you live a long life even in less time. Thats what Hazel had said, " Augustus, you gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful."
Where do you find a person hearing his eulogy before his death or fulfilling the wish of the person he loved when given a chance to do that for his own. It did make me cry but it also made me understand the relevance of small joys of life.
Thank you John Green for writing this book. I know it was a heartbreaking read but it was .... a pleasure to have my heart broken by you.
Okay.

Love,
A believer in bigger infinites

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
