Do you remember the last first day of your high school life? Now here you are counting down the last three months of this place where made memories and made the friendships that will last a life time. You may be excited; college is so much fun! On the other hand, you might be sad and scared for the future to come. Goodbyes are the worst and the tears are enviable but here are some reasons why you should enjoy every last second of your senior year.
Friendships are forever.
These three months will be the time of your life with the people you grew up with, the people you love. Please have weekends of laughs and school days of memories that you will always remember. You cannot imagine how fast everything will fly by when you let go of the worries and the fears. Don’t think about saying goodbye because these last weeks you want to remembering being happy. Though those friends that you love could be 5 minutes away or all the way in another state they will cherish every last moment with you so, you should do the same.
Grades do matter.
I’m sure you already know where you’re headed off to this coming fall, you have the nice acceptance letter to prove it. This doesn’t mean that you should do mediocre in your last classes of high school days. This is how teachers will remember you and this is your final transcript. Colleges could see how you slipped by and might not be as interested as they were before. The senior slide or senioritis is consuming and you just can’t wait for it to be over but don’t give up. Strive for the A’s on those tests that you dread but this will make feel so accomplished at the end.
Prom isn’t stupid.
Yes, I bet you went to your junior prom and some girls maybe went as a sophomore but this different. This last dance with the people you grew up with and this is last time you will all be together until that final day of graduation. I know dresses and tuxes can get pricey but if you don’t want spend money then go to a thrift shop or goodwill because its not about how good you look; it is about the memories you make. Yes, they will play the same songs as they did when you were in middle school but hey, who doesn’t love Ice Ice Baby. Go, and enjoy yourself!
Don’t say goodbye, say see you soon.
Goodbyes seem so permanent and sad. These people who you spent your whole life with aren’t going to disappear. The texts and calls will get shorter but that doesn’t mean they care for you any less, trust me, you both will be crazy busy. You’ll forward to the days you get to go home and laugh with them again and see the smile that makes you feel like nothing has changed. They will always be apart of you and you will always be apart of them. Its never goodbye, it’s a see you soon.
Please don’t make me beg you, please live like you are going to die tomorrow. Make the memories that you will never forget and don’t dread these last three months. This is your time to love like never before. This is your time to laugh harder and dream bigger. College will be amazing and you’ll meet so many new people but for now focus on the friends you love and memories that will be apart of you forever. Good luck seniors, these last three months will be a blast.
