Dear You,
Dear wonderful you who is currently going through a hard time,
There’re so many things I want to tell you. There’re just so many things I wish I could say to you as I look into your eyes and give you a comforting smile and a hug if you need one.
I want you to know that you are never alone. Okay, hon? You are NEVER alone. You have so many people that love and care for you. If you think that’s a lie, know that I love and care for you and we haven’t met. If someone you haven’t met cares a whole lot about you, just imagine how much everyone you met cares about you.
I guarantee you that you have a support system. I don’t know how big it is and I don’t know who’s in it. Maybe it’s your family, maybe it’s your friends, maybe it’s your teachers, it might even be the person who serves you your coffee every morning. No matter what, you have a support system, there is someone out there who would miss you if you just disappeared. You have people who love you and care about and just want you to be happy.
Lean on these people. Call them in the middle of the night when you’re crying and you can’t fall asleep. Call them in the middle of the day when you feel alone and miserable. Text them when you just need a sense of human companionship. Know that if you need someone you can get a hold of someone, because they will always be there for you. Don’t call yourself a burden or a bother. You are loved by too many people to be a bother. Reach out to them when you need them. Don’t worry about worrying anyone. People like to worry; it gives them something to do. People worry because they love you. Let them worry. Let them show you how much they love you.
Be selfish, just for a little while. Take care of yourself. Let the ones who love you take care of you, too. Take medicine, if you need it. Eat fruits and chocolate. Play your music a little too loud and dance around your room. Crawl into your bed, pull your covers over you and read one of your favorite books. Take a shower or bath and make your bed daily. Cuddle with your pet, your favorite person or a stuffed animal. These little acts will make you feel better.
Remember that your suffering will end. You will get stronger and things will get better. One day you will wake up and getting out of bed will be easy. You’ll sing a familiar song as you make your favorite breakfast. Someone who loves you will call you and you’ll spend the phone call laughing. When you hang up the phone, you’ll be filled with thoughts of love and not of loneliness.
Remember that you are loved and are worthy of love and remember to love yourself.
Take care, you.
