Okay ladies, it's time to appreciate your big head of hair!

But let's get out the complaints about curly hair first.

How annoying is it that no matter the amount of conditioner in your hair, it is still almost impossible to untangle each curl? Or how a good hair day could easily turn into the worst because of the humidity? How annoying is it when your hair ties and brushes break because they cannot handle the intense strength of your thick curls? When people ask “oh my god, how do you get your curls like that!?” and you have to reply “by wetting my hair…” without sounding like a complete snob. I know, it is so annoying. It is even more annoying when you are minding your business in class and the person seated behind you feels the need to comment on your full head of hair. It’s “too big” or “blocking their view”. How about when they compare you to a poodle? Or laugh while saying it looks as if you got electrocuted. The slick comments are so annoying and so ignorant. We all know this. But think this: we say boys act annoying because they like us... so why would that not apply to our hair too?

Think about how beautiful your curls are. They bounce, shine, have volume. You could style your curls in a million of different ways but straighten them at the same time. Do you know the amount of girls who grow up to complain about their hair because it is “too straight”. Because the curls they could only obtain by applying heat “drop so quickly”. Meanwhile, your curls remain luscious throughout the entire day. You do not need other little girls to tell you your curls are beautiful, you need to believe they are beautiful. I know all the other girls in class have straight hair, but why do you want to look like all the other girls? Your curls make you stand out; they are beautiful and unique. Your hair has more volume than any girl who’s hair is naturally straight.. I promise this will become so important to you when you get older! You don’t even have to style your hair in order to have curls. I mean, even something as simple as braids stay styled a lot longer for curly haired girls than straight haired girls. Most straight-haired girls struggle to keep their curls lasting past a few hours. Plus, you don’t have to wash your curls every day. Curly hair is so annoying to maintain but at least your hair never gets greasy!

You’re not the only girl on earth with curly hair. Selena Gomez, Beyoncé, Zendaya… these are all woman who embrace their femininity as well as everything they have been gifted with (curly hair included). Of course they style their hair occasionally, but these celebrities are never too ashamed to show off their locks!

Just think: whenever you meet someone else with curly hair, you guys automatically have an easy conversation starter! “What do you use to keep your curls from frizzing?” or “how do you get your baby hairs to stay in place?” could be the start of a whole new friendship. Don’t force your curls to betray you. Embrace them. Love them. Appreciate your curls because they are beautiful, unique, always in style and they are YOUR’S.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
