Dear Freshman,
Your college experience will begin soon, and you cannot help but wonder if you will like the classes you take, how you will manage to get from one side of campus to the other (without being late to your class), what the parties will be like, and how many times you will have to remember not to lose your Wildcat ID to have access to the dorms (it happens a lot, trust me). By now, you are already settled into your dorm and have met your roommate(s). Depending on whether or not you know someone that will be attending Chico State, you might feel a bit alone. You might not know anyone yet, but that will soon change. Being as awesome as you are, it's just a matter of time.
From here on out, it's the beginning of a new chapter in your life. Moving away from home can be quite scary. It's totally normal to feel afraid, but you really shouldn't be. I know the idea of being in college is foreign to you, but it's something you will get accustomed to. Chico State is something new, but think about everything else that was once new to you. Not that scary anymore, right?
Some advice: genuinely enjoy and make the most out of your freshman year. College goes by too quickly. It seems like only yesterday I was in the exact same situation as you are right now. Make sure to make the most out of your freshman year, because it will only benefit you in the long run. Your freshman year at Chico State will mold the following years of your college experience. Make good friends, take classes that interest you, explore different majors and minors, join clubs on campus, volunteer, consider studying abroad, and make sure to explore Bidwell Park.
Sincerely,
