Dear User,

Thanks for making me feel like nothing more than a means to getting what you wanted. Thanks for dehumanizing me and causing me to lose all trust in humanity. Thanks for reaching out to me when, and only when, you needed something.

I once believed all people were kind and caring, but you taught me otherwise. I never dreamed the world was so full of people who just wanted to get something from me and then walk out of my life. Thanks for opening my eyes to the manipulative, self-centeredness of the human race. Thanks for crushing my optimistic outlook on the world.

I longed for strong friendships and deep connections, but all you wanted was the capabilities I had to offer. I gave and all you did was take. All I wanted was to be your friend, but you had a hidden agenda. Tell me, when you look at the people around you do you only see what you could gain from them? Do you ignore the fact that they have feelings and emotions like you? People aren't just tools, you know. We aren't cold, lifeless metal whose sole purpose is to be used and then tossed aside. So why do you treat us like we are?

People are not obstacles that you need to run over in order to make it to the finish line. We have feelings and hopes and dreams as well. That goal you achieved, that reward you gained because you used people to shove your way to your destination, it will mean nothing in the long run. Once you make it to where you wanted, you'll look around and realize you're all alone. So what did you really gain? A fancy title? A shiny medal?

I can tell you what you lost. You lost the chance to have a friend, someone who cares about you and wants to see you succeed. You missed out on memories and deep lasting relationships because you were so focused on an intangible goal, a title, or a reward. You missed out on the devotion, the love, and the chance to lift others. Somehow you lost the most important part of being human. Humans became nothing more than objects to you, and objects became your idol. I feel sorry for you because of all the things you missed.

I'm guarded because of you, but I'm also better because of you. The way you treated me made me realize I never wanted to make someone feel the way you made me feel. I realized how important relationships are as I watched you destroy all of yours in a pursuit of something ornamental and fleeting. I might not receive any recognition for giving, but I'd rather give than only take. So thanks for using me and ensuring I would never be a user like you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
