Can somebody explain to me why women have it so hard? We live in a world where we are constantly surrounded by double standards. Social media influences the perception of what women should say and how they should act. It’s frustrating to watch women lose their sense of empowerment because there is a struggle to find who they are in an ever-changing society. To combat this dilemma women face in society I believe women should remember a few things.
Don’t let men control your happiness.
I think the hardest subjects women have to deal with are men. Regardless if you’re a woman in high school, university or even middle aged and divorced, it is important to remember who you are. You were not brought into this world to be dependent on a man, so don’t act like a man is your end all be all. Don’t force love; if you focus on what you want from life, love will come. When you stop looking and focus on yourself, everything will fall into place.
Love your body.
Big, tall, small, petite, curvy and something in the middle of all those—just love it. Never let anyone put you down because of the way you look. All women are beautiful in their own way. Be proud of what you have, and if you don’t like it? Do something about! Too many people spend their lives complaining about things they can control but are too lazy to do anything about it. If you don’t want to change what you have, embrace and love it. If you do want to change what you have do it, embrace and love it. Life is too short.
Work hard now so you don’t have to work hard later.
This goes out to all my university/college students. Get educated. Find interest in something you love to do so that work doesn’t have to seem like work. Help prove to society that women should be on the same playing field as men in the work place. Aim to be a CEO or a vice president; nobody can stop you from trying but yourself!
Travel.
See the world as much as you can. Learn about other cultures and experience the world. You have one life so live it as best as possible. There is more to learn in new and different places than going as far as your backyard. Traveling and experiencing new countries, cities or communities provides you with perspective and can radically change your outlook of the world for the better.
I believe sometimes it is hard to be a woman in our society. As women we are meant for the same greatest as men, I think it is important to always remember that. Strive to be who you want to be and don’t let anyone tell you different. And if you ever get confused about who you are and what you want to be remember these few things and everything will be OK.
