As I sit here minding my own business, I sense something looming over top of me. I jolt out of the way. All I hear is a "Bang" as I fly away from the scene. I got lucky there, but that's not going to stop me. Nothing can stop me. That's what every fly believes, but as we know that's not always the case.
It's a typical morning as I'm perched on top of the vacuum when the alarm goes off. I see you toss over and press this device that makes the noise go away. To my amusement, the noise comes back in a couple minutes! Again, you toss over and press the device again so the noise disappears. This has me real curious about what this device is. I buzz on over towards the device going right past your ear. I'm amazed that you jolt right up and try and swat me. I fly out of the way as you give me a death stare. You then decide you might as well get out of bed. Even though you did just attack me, I feel like I'm the one who made you get moving.
I hide back in the corner so that you don't notice me again. I watch you zombie walk out of your room and into the next room. The hissing noise comes about; which I've come accustomed too at this point. I know I don't want to go in there because water isn't my friend. About 15 minutes later you come sprinting back into your room knowing that you're running late for class. This always had me curious as to why you just wouldn't get up earlier so you wouldn't be in a rush. You slam the door on your way out. That's when I notice the lanyard to your keys is still sitting on your desk. I quickly slip through the small crack in the door and start buzzing around your head. Weaving in and out as you try to swat at me. I fly down towards your pocket and quickly land on your jeans and then fly away hoping you'll get my hint. Your bad reflexes try to swat me one more time but you end up just smacking your leg. That's when you realize you don't have your keys. Man, you'd be lost without me.
Rushing down the stairs, I know I'm about to face my biggest fear: going outdoors. I wait again for you come stomping down the stairs so I can time it perfectly to get into the car with you without you noticing me. Alright, here comes the moment of truth. My wings drip with sweat as you unlock the car. The door creaks open and I make my leap of faith. I smack against the glass of the window instantly becoming dazed and confused. Did I make it inside or is this the outside? After a while my little brain gets everything sorted to allow my eyes to check the surroundings. The first thing I notice is the mess on the floor. Well, I must have reach my destination.
I enjoy the ride to the school and again faced my fear of outdoors as we walked to class. Luckily your backpack allowed me protection and grip to stay with you as you ran to class. I break away from you and head for the corner as you take your seat in your usual spot, the second seat on the left in the back row. You sit there all pale in the face and keep wiping off your hands which isn't usual. That's when I notice on the board in bold letters it says "Test Day". Ah, now everything makes sense. The professor walks into the class and gives his short speech before delivering out the papers. I know you can do it.
Time passes by as people start filing out of the room as you still sit there with the paper in front of you. Taping the pencil against the desk every few seconds. I sneakingly fly on over to your desk. I slowly crawl my way up to the top of the desk. I peak over the edge and notice your eyes are glued on the paper. I walk up and touch your hand with my hand. I say "Just remember I'm always here for you". That's when you look down and notice me, giving me a smack with the pencil. Again, I luckily get out of the way. I fly away leaving the room knowing that I've done as much as I can. It's all up to you now. I'll be back again though the next time you need me.
We've all felt before that in our lifetimes like we are alone in certain situations. That's not the case at all. Someone is always looking out for you. When you're feeling down, remember that and keep fighting. You don't need to have everything figured out right at this very moment. Slowly piece by piece everything will come together and I'll be right there along the way to see you reach your greatest achievements.
Sincerely,
The fly on the wall
