The first day of kindergarten turns into the first day of elementary school. The first day of middle school turns into the first day of high school. Those four years of high school moved way too slow but then comes graduation day – and students feel like they are on top of the world. After graduation day, there is move-in day to college. Those four years of college moved way too fast but then comes graduation day, again – and students actually are on top of the world.
Your first days of school each year are not only memorable and scary for you, but they are even scarier and more memorable to your parents. Your parents remember what you were feeling when you were entering kindergarten, along with how quickly you wanted them to leave after dropping you off on your first day of high school. They remember moving you into your first college dorm room as well as receiving pictures of your apartment at the beginning of senior year. Your parents were with you for all those special days, as well as your special last days, like graduation and moving out of your college dorms.
The first and last days of your accomplishments are memorable to you and your parents, but what about all the days in between? The days where you were at your happiest, saddest, maddest, or craziest. You might not remember those days exactly, but your parents do. Your parents were with you through all your ups and downs, no matter what age you were. Your parents were your greatest support system.
Upon entering your 2015-2016 school year, thank your parents for being that unlimited support system, the forgivable and lovable people who were there for you from your first to your last days. Just remember that your special days are just as special (and, possibly, even more special) to your parents. They want to share these days with you, so don’t push them away when you want to set up your apartment, and don’t have an attitude during your last family dinner. Appreciate everything your parents have done for you over your years of life, and thank them. Thank them for the support they bring. Thank them for the food you eat. Thank them for the random times they decide to go shopping. Thank them for molding you into the person you are today. Thank them for allowing you to become the person you are today. Thank them every day, because your first day of school is near, which means it’s a special day for you, yet an even more special day for them. Thank you, Mom and Dad - for everything.
