Mother, Father,
This is my ode to you. For all the time and money you’ve spent, for all the rides you’ve given me and all of the meals you’ve made me. For all the support you’ve given me throughout my life, and the support I know I’ll still receive in the future.
As I start this new chapter of my life, this new school year, I want you both to know how much you mean to me and how much I love you. I appreciate everything you guys do for me, even if I’m bad at showing it sometimes. I know I’m a handful, but you’ve managed to raise me and not drop me off in the middle of a field somewhere to fend for myself. And I thank you for that. I don’t think I would have made it anywhere else other than the loving atmosphere I have been in for the last 20 years.
You both have inspired me so much in my life and I want you to know that. Your perseverance and determination have not only motivated me in my studies, but also in other areas of my life. In my friendships, in other relationships, in my jobs and all throughout my life. I have always looked up to both of you as role models, and I always will. I love you both more than words can express and even though that sounds super cliché, it’s truer than true! I will love you both forever and always, and try to make sure that you always know it.
As I mentioned previously, you two inspire me in my relationships. The love that you two share is enviable and I want to be able to experience it myself. Dad, you’ve shown me what it means to be a loving husband and father, and because of that, I know what I deserve in a relationship and that I shouldn’t settle. Mom, you’ve shown me what it means to be a loving wife and mother, and believe me, I’ve been taking notes. In all of my relationships I strive to be as caring and loving as you. You both inspire me to treat everyone I come meet with the utmost importance. You’ve shown me how to be a light to those around me and how to share the love of Christ with everyone I meet. I hope to one day have the same influence on my children and be able to show them what love really means and the love they deserve.
So, mom and dad, this is my ode to you. For all the years of encouragement and love you’ve given to both me and my brother. For all the tears you’ve wiped away and all the times you’ve helped me through those dark moments where I couldn’t see the other side on my own. You both deserve trophies for being the best parents in the world. I love you both very much.
(P.S. I was initially going to make thisrhyme but that was really hard.)
