Things Conservatives Must Realize

Dear conservatives: this is not an attack, but when it comes to certain situations why do you remain ignorant? When you're presented with facts you disregard them as someone is some delusional make believe land.

I am not a liberal, but I do most liberals as they do have sense from right and wrong. On the topic of abortion, why are most of y'all against it so much? I understand that those who are against it are pro-life, but y'all don't exactly know a person's situation.

A woman's pregnancy can result from rape, but there is some who acknowledge that they simply can't take care of a baby nor want one. Just like abortion, a lot of y'all are very harsh when it comes to illegal immigration. I believe immigrants should take the proper steps to become U.S. citizens, but for a lot of them it is not that simple. I mean aren't we all illegal immigrants?

When actually conversing with a lot of y'all, they got upset when I said America was never great. They asked how are we not great when we have freedom to do a lot of things most countries don't, and how we were able to win wars and have countries look up to us. Well the truth is America has done a lot of great things, but there are things that does not make it great. How can a country be great while it was made on the backs of slaves, but never really accommodate its slaves nor their descendants with reparations? This has caused a significant division of wealth between blacks and whites. Somehow, when this is presented a lot of y'all see it as blacks are looking for some entitlement. How would you like it if you were with a company since it was started, but did not receive the proper recognition or paid of what you're truly owed? When it comes to impoverished areas, a lot of y'all present the idea that a lot of people who live in those conditions are lazy and live off the government.

Becoming successful or even getting out of harsh living situations is not easy. It is easy for people to have that mindset without actually experiencing what it is like growing up in those circumstances. When people say there is white privilege, a lot of y'all treat it as the boy who cried wolf. What a lot of y'all do not get is that a lot of the history we learn in school is distorted for the benefit of white people. Even though the existence of Jesus is debated, but still many to this day believe that he was white based on the numerous paintings and drawings of him being white. The Bible clearly states his appearance, and how can he be white in a region full of dark people? To this day we are still dealing with racial discrimination.

Recent events have shown that much really has not changed from the civil rights era. America has indirectly caused radical Islamic terrorism partly by U.S. foreign policy. There are number of atrocities in this country that are disregarded, but when they discussed the common response is get over it and move on. How can America be great when a lot of its citizens are not fully aware of its true history. The presumptive nominee has said crazy things, and it has shown what kind of people you have in your party to actually have him crush his opponents. I am not anti-American, but in order to be considered great there are things in this country we must change.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
