Living in the bible belt, I would say many of us go to church. And there are always those people in that church that people see as some strange spiritual creature.
These people in our church, are missionaries. We don't see them very often because they are always in the field, but they occasionally come back to visit their home congregation. People tend to view missionaries as someone who is on another level when it comes to spreading the gospel. What people don't realize is, their not.
Living on mission is something you do wherever you are. Sure, some people spend their lives spreading Christ's message and that is awesome. Most people don't do this though and their is nothing wrong with that. Being a missionary is not the only way to serve in the kingdom. Their are so many people throughout the United States who work a regular job that don't know Christ. This is a huge mission field and the great commission was not just meant for people who chose to be missionaries. It was meant for all of us.
However, the sad thing is that many Christians do not want to share Christ with their coworkers. It is a touchy subject and many people do not want to talk about it. But if you really have a love for Jesus and for people, then you will find a way. There is a wrong way and a right way to go about it, but that is another story. The main thing is to always do it from love.
There are so many people who work regular jobs that need to be reached. and their are so many Christians who work with these people. Everyone can make a world of difference in the kingdom by just telling those you work with. And also by telling these people the right way as well. Remember, those people you see who are missionaries are not someone who is different than you, they just have a different field than you.
