"I'm a big child at heart. I think it's important to stay that way and not lose the wonder of life." -- Pam Grier
I truly see no good reason to act my age. I am 19 and turning 20 soon, and I don't think I'll ever grow up. I don't ever want to forget that life is truly wonderful. Anyone who is still a child at heart will understand these 6 things.
1. Disney is a MUST
For a child at heart, there can never be enough Disney! Every time a new movie comes out, you know exactly where I'll be... Knocking over the little kids to make sure I get a good seat! One of the best ways to spend a long weekend, or downtime, is definitely by having marathons of the best Disney classics. Whether it be The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins or The Lion King, you can never go wrong with a great Disney movie!
2. Always choosing to sit at the kids' table
When it comes to the holidays, you will always be sitting at the kids' table! It's simply more fun! There's no talk of politics, or arguments, just good old fashioned laughing about jokes that make absolutely no sense. There's no doubt that the kids' table is the place to be!
3. Being silly as much as you can
There's no such thing as too much fun or too much silly! I love being silly, it's definitely a big part of my personality. Being silly helps to lighten a bad mood, make people laugh, and it just makes everything so much better. Making people laugh is one of my favorite things to do, so there's no doubt that I will joke and make all the silly faces I know how to do!
4. Not caring what people think
Children generally don't care what other people think of them. They'll act how they want to, say what the want to, and they are always extremely truthful. Not caring what others think is something that we should learn to do from kids, because being yourself is important. It's important to do what you love and to do what makes YOU happy because you only get one life; so make the most of it!
5. Optimism
One thing that I love about myself is that I never lose my optimistic outlook on life. No matter what bad or tough things come my way, I try to stay happy and to remember that the things I have in my life are amazing and that I am beyond blessed. There is no reason why as you get older you should lose your sense of happiness and optimism. As you get older, you should of course be realistic, but also remember to accept things as they are and to look on the bright side. I love my life even when things get hard.
6. Dreaming big
We know that children always have big dreams, such as becoming president someday, or growing up to be a superhero. While we as adults know that these are somewhat unrealistic dreams, it's still a wonderful way to live. As an adult, I still have really big dreams for myself, although they are more realistic than becoming a superhero. I don't give up. I set my goals high and then I work towards reaching them no matter what it takes.
So, to all the amazing adults who will always be children at heart... Don't ever change. Enjoy life and laugh with your loving, caring, and fun heart! In the wise words of Peter Pan, "Keep adventuring and stay not a grown up!"
