8 Things To Do Alone On Valentine’s Day
Start writing a post

Valentine's Day can be a sad time for people who can't share it with someone special, even if you are with someone you're not always able to be together. Here are some things to do if you find yourself alone this year.

1. Drink

If you are of the legal age, get something to drink! Spice up your night with some Valentine's Day margaritas. Yes, it is a Thursday, but when has that ever stopped anyone. If you don't drink, make it sans liquor, who the heck cares.

2. Binge

Binge a TV show you've been meaning to watch. Start reading the books you told yourself you'd read in the New Year, whatever floats your boat. It's called self care people. (I would highly recommend The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn it's a 10/10 thriller). Settle down for the night with some high quality entertainment.

3. Treat Yo Self

If alcohol is not your thing, chocolate definitely is. Get yourself your favorite sweet treat and enjoy the hell out of it. As Tom Haverford from Parks and Recreation said "Love fades away, but things? Things are forever".

4. Cook yourself dinner

This may be one of my favorite things to do Valentine's Day or not. Make yourself dinner. Spend a little time with yourself, cooking up one of your favorite dishes. Take the time to create something personalized to you, the world is your oyster.

5. Get out of the house

Find something cool in your area, maybe a bookstore you've never been to or a record store with awesome deals. Find a place you've passed by a million times and finally have a look around. No one says you have to be sad or mopey, do something cool with your regular Thursday night.

6. Listen to throwback tunes

Find a playlist of all those old 2000's era songs you loved in middle school but haven't heard since. Take yourself back to your emo days when everyone loved My Chemical Romance, I can guarantee you remember every single word. Blast that sh*t in the car and reminisce on the jams of era's passed.

7. Go out with friends

Another Parks and Rec reference, but Galentine's Day is alive and well! Call all your friends and see what they're up to. No need to spend Valentine's Day alone when you can hang with friends instead. If not, just enjoy your own company, some people find solace in being by themselves, and that is totally fine.

8. Buy yourself flowers

This is one I always do significant other or not. Flowers bring so much color and life to your space. I recommend sunflowers, lilies, or carnations, they last longer than roses. Flowers are cheap, put them everywhere.

I know I made this article a little more geared towards girls, but fellas, do not be ashamed to also treat yo self! We all need some self care sometimes. Do whatever it is that makes you happy, but be aware of what you're doing and why it makes you happy. Be mindful of the time you're taking for yourself and remind yourself that all you really need is you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
