You are allowed to be happy.
Do not feel guilty for your emotions. You don’t deserve that. Your feelings are totally valid because that’s just it, they are your own.
I have gone through my life with periods of time where I was sad for too long. When something good happened in my life to bring me out of that slump and brighten my life, sometimes I felt guilty for being happy. I felt like I was not allowed to enjoy my life and the good things that it brought.
I can understand maybe posting on social media too much about being happy, but celebrities could do it every day and no one would have a problem with it, so why can’t we post about our happiness? Why not celebrate with and congratulate each other for our change of emotion? We should be lifting each other up instead of criticizing each other for showing off our happiness. After all, we are all in this world together, why not be kind and support one another?
Going back to your emotions being valid. They are worth something, and it is much better for you to feel happy than sad or angry. Emotions spread to others around you, and that feeling of joy could be all that someone needs. No one should ever put you down for your happiness or make you feel bad about it. Being sad is bad, let’s be honest. Wouldn’t you rather see positive posts on your feed than depressing ones? Just like in person, seeing people’s emotions on social media can change your mood.
There are times where I feel like I am a burden to people. Even if they tell me they want me there, I will feel annoying or like I don’t belong. If you ever feel like this, take a deep breath, know that it’s probably all in your head, and, most importantly, have fun! You shouldn’t live your life worrying so much, let loose sometimes and you’ll see just how much that happiness can flood through your body and soul.
