We’ve all heard it before that history repeats itself. However, today in fashion you can actually see that phrase come to life.

I’m pretty sure we all had at least one of those stretchy plastic chokers growing up, and wore them all the time with every outfit (don't try to deny it). Eventually, they faded away as new necklaces came into view. But I’m here to tell you that we have been thrown back into the 90’s. Chokers are back, and now come in more styles than twisted plastic (hallelujah). There is such a variety of chokers that no matter who you are or what your style is, you can find a choker for you.

The Minimalist

If you’re not into all of the glitz and glam of fancy jewelry, then aim for a simpler choker necklace. There are many chokers that are thin and can be wrapped multiple times or tied into a bow. Or choose a choker that is a satin or ribbon style and just a single strip. Other chokers have smaller pendants or gems attached that add a little sparkle but still keep it to a minimum.

Old School

For those of you who flock to thrift stores and love a good vintage piece, then lace is for you. Lace chokers give off a sophisticated and elegant feel to any look. Vintage style chokers based off of Victorian style will give you that antique vibe that you love.

All That Shimmers

If you can’t go out without glitter and rhinestones, then a bold statement choker will suit your fancy. Any type of silver or gold choker will give you that hint of shine. A tribal style choker gives you an overload of glam and will be the centerpiece of any outfit.

Chokers come in such a variety that you can find a style that will adhere to your liking. You may even find that you like certain styles that you never even thought of before! Chokers are a great way to take a baby step out of your fashion comfort zone, so get out there and explore!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
