Why Alexis Ren Really Is #Goals

Many of you have seen the bikini clad pictures of Alexis Ren in exotic locations all over Instagram. Many people think that she is the epitome of #GOALS, and I think she is too, but not for the same reasons that others say she is. I don't think her life is perfect. I don't think she's happy all the time. I don't think that her life is as glamorous as her Instagram feed. This isn't purely speculation though. I know this because she straight out tells people about her problems on Twitter. I like that Alexis Ren is brutally honest about her life, even when she's most famous for having a seemingly perfect one. She's overcome so many obstacles, and she still manages to be successful.

A few years ago, it was easy to believe that Alexis Ren was the definition of perfection. Her Instagram was filled with perfect photos of her travels all over the world with her seemingly perfect boyfriend, Jay Alvarrez. Every single comment on her photos incorporated someone saying #goals, whether it was in relation to her body, travels, boyfriend, or just a plain old comment about her life in general. It was easy to get distracted by her perfect social media and forget about the girl behind the account. Everything she posted was enviable. Nothing she posted ever made anyone wonder if maybe her life wasn't actually perfect. I think everyone was okay with that though. Everyone wants something to aspire to, even if it's unattainable, in this case, it was unattainable for even Alexis Ren.

Over the past year, Alexis Ren has slowly started to show us her imperfections, which makes her even goal worthy. She's no longer the girl beside Jay Alvarrez. She's shown the world that a real person is on the other end of her social media accounts. That takes a lot of courage, especially for someone who appears to have everything together. For years, people were making the claim that Alexis Ren should not be considered #goals because no one knew what her life was actually like. Like pretty much everyone else in the world, her Instagram featured only the best moments captured in perfect pictures. So while Alexis Ren shouldn't have been considered #goals for her impeccable social media skills, she should be now, based on the person that she's become over the past few years. Here's why Alexis Ren actually is pretty inspirational.

She allows herself to be vulnerable.

This past February, Alexis Ren opened up about her toxic relationship with Jay Alvarrez and their difficult breakup. She showed the world that not everything is as perfect as it appears on Instagram and that you never truly know what's going on in someone's life if you only see them in pictures. It turns out that their relationship, which started out real, turned into a facade prompted by Jay's business endeavors. Despite the countless comments on their pictures together, they were not the perfect couple after all.

In addition to opening up about her relationship problems, Alexis Ren also reveals the truth behind her perfect body. In April, she opened up about her health problems, and her struggle to attain perfection. Anyone who follows her knows that she works out all the time, so her amazing body doesn't seem out of the ordinary for her lifestyle, but she's told everyone that she's pushed herself past her limits, and even to the point of malnourishment. It's unclear if she's struggled with an eating disorder, but she's brutally honest about the fact that she's had to pay a dangerous price for her perfect body. She also clears up that she's much healthier now and no longer struggling with malnourishment or other medical issues pertaining to her weight. However, her vulnerability on Twitter shows the thousands of girls all over the world who hate that their bodies don't look like hers that she hasn't always maintained her figure in the healthiest way.

Her family is important to her.

It's no secret that Alexis loves her little brother since he's regularly featured on her social media feeds, but she's also open about the struggles that her family has faced. Her mom died of Cancer in 2014, so obviously, she, like so many others, has experienced a painful loss. However, despite these challenges, she continues to thrive and support her younger brother.

She has big goals.

One thing is for sure: since her break up with Jay, her career has soared, this is probably because she's no long "Jay Alvarrez's girlfriend" and she has created her own identity apart from him. Her modeling career has taken off, she's got a completely new look, and she's even launched a cosmetics line called Colour Pop, proving that she's not only beautiful but an entrepreneur as well. What's even more awesome is that she's looking for a way to share her story with the world, maybe even on a Ted Talk. She is crazy ambitious, and that's something that really should be considered #goals. Her goals are more important than her perfect body and jet-setter lifestyle. She understands the dangers of social media and wants everyone to see that people are more than what they post on Instagram.

She wants to give back.

While Alexis Ren is crazy successful herself, she wants to start a philanthropy to help others. This is another thing that's pretty goal-worthy. She understands the importance of helping those less fortunate and wants to make a difference in the world.

So even though Alexis Ren may have a near perfect Instagram account, you shouldn't aspire to be her because she's beautiful, rich, and famous. Instead, you should commend her for her honesty, family values, ambitions, and caring spirit. These are the things that really make someone #goals. There's more to people than their Instagram, so let's admire them for the things that truly make them who they are. Alexis Ren isn't #goals because she's perfect, she's #goals because she's not, and she'll tell you that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
