Music is a significant part of everyone’s life all across the world. If you read the first sentence and disagreed, than you might not be a human being. (Just kidding, you’re allowed to hate whatever you want. Hey! Maybe even listen to one of these albums!) Personally, music is extremely important to me as I started studying it at the age of 9 and continue to learn in college. I sing, I dance, I write my own music and play two instruments. Music is literally and everyday thing for me and I use my leisure time to explore the wonders and beauty of music. I am not usually one to listen to whole entire albums, but I decided to try my ears at it. And here I am going to present to you the albums I found were the most mesmerizing, pleasant sounding, most jamming I found. They are all rated number one in my heart, and hopefully in yours as well!
1. Bruno Mars - 24K Magic
So I would recommend this album to anyone who lives music that’s funky; something you can dance to and people who likes music from the 70’s through the 90’s. 24K Magic is more geared towards pop culture now, but the rest of the album is more redesigned old classic sounds. Probably one of my favorite songs off the album would be “Calling All My Lovelies”. Not just because that song is a slow funk, but the harmonies are beautiful, and it is actually more on the comedic side. Also, the whole album is made to uplift the spirit of an individual; it’s mostly feel-good music. But if you know Bruno Mars and have been with him since day one, you KNOW he can definitely sing ballads. And you best believe he didn’t forget to put one in this album. The sad song is called “Too Good To Say Goodbye,” and it’s another funk song, but the emotion he puts behind it - I don’t even think I have any words to describe it. Just go listen to the album!
2. Adele - 25
Let me first start off that Adele is a queen. Her song “Rolling in The Deep” shook the whole entire music industry, and her music continues to influence us with this new album. The popular songs off this new album are “Hello,” “Send My Love (To Your New Lover),” and one recently being “Water Under the Bridge.” If you thought that “Hello,” was sad - than you were dead wrong. Sweet Mama Adele always giving us the feely-feels in every song, and some songs of this album really make you feel some type of way. One of the deepest songs named “Love in The Dark”, has one of the most heart throbbing back stories ever. The song is about letting of go of someone you love because they are holding you back in life. We all have had people who we loved to associate with, and some of them were a bad influence in our lives where we realized soon later that we could no longer keep them around. My favorite song off the album is called, “A Million Years Ago,” a song that’s not really up Adele’s jazzy ally, but she owned it and slayed it. Not only do I love the lyrics about downs of life she has, but I appreciate that it was purely just her singing with simply an acoustic guitar. This album is so full of passion and emotion, and great for a good cry.
3. BTS - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever
**First and foremost: The answer is yes, this is K-Pop. I know there are tons of people out there who think that this may be too much, or weird or just won’t listen to it because you don’t know Korean. If you keep a mindset like that - you’ll miss out on SO much more music that’s in this world and/or your mind will never be blown. I won’t lie, even I had the initial thought of K-Pop being a little on the weird side before I really in-depth explored the options. Let me tell you - it’s a beautiful world of music in Korea ranging from pop to rock to hip hop to even the weird stuff, but it’s all just so intriguing. You’ll find your niche in Korean music.**
Anyway, being a huge fan of BTS (Bangtansonyeodan translating to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts”) since July of last year, I honestly had a hard time choosing which album to mention here because all their music is great. I chose this album specifically because it features their top track since their debut in 2013, and it’s has the most songs I listened when I got into them. They lean more towards hip-hop, but their songs are full of emotion and life. They not only sing songs about love, but the sing songs about confidence, growing up, and having fun! Their last song “Young Forever” is one of my favorite because they all sing about how they continue to grow up but will always be young at heart. Which I think any college student or even adult needs to be reminded of as we get older. So please, take the time and watch a lyric video by them, because it’s just pure perfection.
The only way I can really describe music is life-changing. It is used as a mechanism of coping, expression, art, therapy - it’s more than I can even write about. I’m even sure you might have been listening to a song while reading this article! So next time you trying to find something jam to - try your ears at these albums! You will not be disappointed!
