Christmas music has the power to make everybody within listening range burst with sheer happiness and joy. With just the first few notes of a song, a flood of memories of Christmases past enters into every mind who hears. Everybody has a favorite song or album that gets them into the Christmas spirit.

1. "Positively Christmas (2014)," Various Artists

This album is a compilation of classic Christmas hymns sung by modern-day Christian bands. The bands offer their own unique twist on the well-known songs while exuding the joy that Jesus' birth brings to the whole world.

2. "Nollaig," Keith Harkin

"Nollaig" is such an unique album. Songs such as "Arthur McBride" and "Auld Lang Syne" bring out Harkin's Irish roots while allowing him to add his own twist to each song. "No Love Dying" is a timely song for a world so wrapped up in hatred and fear.

3. "Christmas," Celtic Thunder

The songs on this album are so fitting with every member's voice. The solo songs work so well with the individual's voice and personality. The harmonies on the group songs are beautifully haunting. This album puts a Celtic Thunder twist on beloved Christmas songs.

4. "Christmas Voices," Celtic Thunder

The songs on this album range from traditional Christmas carols to modern songs with a rock feel. This album features both group and solo songs. Each song is unique, showing off harmonies and the variety of styles that each singer does so well.

5. "I'll Be Home for Christmas," Paul Byrom

This beautiful and classic album features "The Swanky Tenor" serenading his listeners. It features traditional songs and modern hits, bringing something for everyone. The songs range from celebrating Christ's birth to talking about ending a relationship around Christmas.

6. "Home for Christmas," Daryl Hall and John Oates

The only well-known song from this album is "Jingle Bell Rock," leaving this song to be an undiscovered gem. While some songs may not be as big as the band's hits, this album is still worth including in any music collection because of the variety of songs and styles covered.

Josh Groban's Christmas album a staple for any Christmas music collection. His smooth voice adds to the beauty of the subject each song holds. His version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is a breathtaking tribute to the Armed Forces who may not be with family during Christmas.

8. "Christmas Symphony," Mannheim Steamroller

Mannheim Steamroller is one of the most-played bands around Christmas. They can be heard from the radio to local grocery store. Their wide variety of songs and styles reflects the band's talented members.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
