5 Things To Do Between Midterms And Finals

Midterms are over, and you have no idea what to do? I feel your pain.

MIDTERM SEASON IS OVER FOR MUST OF US!

Some probably had it way harder than others. Maybe some had their midterms in one week, leaving no time to procrastinate. Whereas others, their midterms were in the expanse of three weeks, leaving more than enough time to procrastinate and study two hours before their test—not that I am talking from personal experience here, of course.

And probably, now that you are not spending most of your time studying—or trying to force yourself into studying, but instead ending on binge-watching season 4 of Glee until 3 am in the morning—you have no idea of what to do with your life since you've spent most of your time cramming information into your head. (Or procrastinating.)

Well, don't haste because I came up with a list of 5 things you can do now that you don't have to worry about midterms, but yes about papers, finals and saving your GPA because you failed most of your midterms.

I'm crying on the inside a bit, guys

1. Take a breath and nap

What is better than sleeping after a long day of stressing your mind to limits you never tried in high school? It feels magnificent, let me tell you.

Your mind will tremendously thank you for that six-hour nap your thirty-minute nap will turn into. When you wake up, you will regret it and wish to keep on sleeping, but you will eventually realize there are still responsibilities... So you will keep on sleeping (:

2. Go to Netflix or Hulu or any other illegal website you know of to watch things

When I say "illegal website" I don't really mean Pornhub or Redtube, no. I mean, any website where you can watch TV shows or movies that aren't on Hulu or Netflix.

Maybe you were one of those persons who put to the side watching Stranger Things 2 for studying for your midterm. If that's the case, then please let me know your secret. I devoured the nine episodes in two days... However, this is your time to watch that show or movie you've just been itching to watch. Go and spend ten hours binge-watching a show until your eyes begin to bleed due to the heavy exposure to the light of your phone. Or if you've been itching to watch that new porn parody with your favorite porn star that came out last week while you were studying, then go ahead. This is your time to relax and waste it however you want.

3. Look up memes

Millennials' number one way of coping is looking at memes. It has been statistically proven, and no, I didn't just come up with this fact on the spot.

There's something about those captioned images and those 5-to-10-second videos that fill an empty space within ourselves with a jagged laughter that brings a sense of lightness. Until you find memes can relate to, and you start questioning your life because those memes are about being sad and broke and lonely and desperately trying to find ways to save your bank account even though you want to go out with your friends.

4. Go out

Now, this one is more for those who are going through post-midterm depression. Yes, it's a thing. It is when you fail your midterms and you feel like crap.

If you want to not think about your really, really, really low grades, go out with a couple friends and just drink your pains and sorrows away. Try to sharpen your vision with a couple shots of pure vodka, and the following morning you won't think about your grades, but about how much you regretted doing one more shot the night before. Be wild and let it all go!

5. Make a fire

Maybe you did a lot of study guides and notes for your tests to help you study, and now you don't know what to do with them since you're finals aren't going to cover anything your midterms did.

So, I recommend you to go to the beach with a couple friends, bring those hideous study guides that in the end didn't help for anything and make a fire with them. Snuggle close to each other and bathe yourself with the warmth emanating from the fire you guys did. Sing some songs, tell jokes or stories. Enjoy the moment while the fire cleanses you from the stress of midterms.

I wouldn't recommend you doing this on campus...unless you want to burn it down to the ground. And damn, we do not want that to happen, do we?

I don't guarantee that these out-of-the-world tips might be effective, but I would say that they are definitely worth a shot!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
