While I know many of you are in spring break mode or are still raving over your trip, summer is quickly approaching, and it's time to book ahead. Obviously, at a basic middle class wage you can’t afford to throw away money at the same rate as celebrities, but to our benefit most of the following locations are relatively inexpensive for the common man! Get ready to live like the rich and famous, get hella likes on Instagram, and still have money in your wallet so you’re not picking up shifts overtime once you return to home!
1. Dominican Republic
I don’t know if you’ve ever met someone from the DR, but his or her personality alone should drive you to the island! Nothing like working on your own time and sipping on countless tropical drinks without breaking your bank. The best part is that because the island is so small, public transit isn’t really necessary so one less cost to cut out!
2. St. Maarten
If this place is good enough for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, then it’s definitely good enough for you! The key difference is that if you stay in the right area, you can go just as luxurious as you want. And if you’re feeling lucky, while it might not be the Vegas strip, you can definitely try to pick up extra cash at the casinos!
3. Greece
Like many warm destination places along the Mediterranean, it is a bit pricey to get to Greece during peak times, which is the majority of the year! Although I assure you that once you touch down in Athens that you can spread a thin budget easily. Selfishly, their failed economy has made it easier to enjoy the finer things in life.
4. Malta
How could you resist a country that is as brightly colored as Venice and Morocco? Without having to go to one of the more pricey Mediterranean locations you will feel just as enchanted by the gorgeous views. Added bonus is that like Greece, staying in Malta is an easy expense of your wallet.
5. Montreal
What appears to be a quaint town by day filled with children, trips to the Biodome and Botanical Gardens because one of the liveliest places for nightlife. For those who are under 21, want to easily assure your parents about the safety of their city and want a similar to Vegas nightclub experience then this city is your go to!
6. European Packages on Groupon
Although I personally have never done one, I trust Groupon with all my goods and service deals! The benefit about using this to go places in western Europe is that many of the packages include airfare, which can go upwards to $1,000 on your own, and all expenses paid so when you book the trip you don’t have to worry as much about saving up for ridiculous things!
7. Thailand
A majority of the people I know, know someone who has been to Thailand and will still be talking about the time spent there several months and maybe years out. Between the beautiful views, ultimate foodie experience and an exchange rate that works in favor of the U.S. dollar (1 USD = 35 Thai Baht) there really isn’t a reason for you not to go.
8. Philippines
Often overlooked is this beautiful island in Asia. The Philippines is filled with immense culture if you are looking for an experience that is less spring break trashy and more spring break classy. And as an added bonus, you’ll probably leave just as golden as the residence without putting in the cash or work to get to that level.
Pro Tip: Check out Skyscanner. That is all, you’ll thank me later.
