AerieREAL Is More Than Body Positivity, It's Just A First Step To Changing How Society Judges Women

We can't stop now. We have the chance to empower more people than ever.

As a society, we're pushing the idea of body positivity further and further every day.

Learning to love yourself isn't easy. Everyone has insecurities that no one knows about, and everyone has something they wish they could change about themselves.

I don't think I've ever gone more than a day without comparing myself to someone, whether it be one of my friends or someone I see on social media. This is just how the world works.

You can tell me "Love yourself! You're perfect the way you are!" all you want. But until society itself starts actually acting like that, your point is pretty insignificant.

This is why Aerie's new bra campaign is so important. And everyone should be putting them on blast for it.

Aerie and American Eagle are two brands that consistently push happiness in your own skin.

A few years ago, Aerie released the AerieREAL movement. They stopped retouching all of their models, and they started expanding their brand to push body positivity, along with acceptance of people of different shapes, sizes and colors.

A few months ago, they started a campaign that gave people like you and me the chance to model their new line of bras and bralettes. Last week, the new line was released and the photos of their new models were added to the website.

And I can't get over how amazing they are to see.

None of these girls look like traditional "models." All of them are unique, and they all have real smiles. You can see the confidence on their faces that I wish I had seen growing up.

As a kid and young teenager, I wanted nothing more than to change the way I looked. I've always had rosy red cheeks and a million freckles, and I looked nothing like my fair-skinned best friends.

As soon as I hit high school, I wore makeup every day. I tried to cover up my rosy cheeks, and I never went too hard in gym class to avoid having my face turn into a tomato.

I felt so isolated. I never saw anyone with the same problems, and whenever people made comments about it, not even insults, I would cower away. I wanted nothing more than to turn invisible.

I can tell you now that I haven't worn foundation in six months, and seeing Aerie's campaign has solidified the idea that embracing your differences will cause a ripple effect.

The things that make you different aren't flaws. They make you unique, and that's the most important thing of all.

It's no secret that Aerie's campaign is important and beautiful, but we can't stop putting them on blast for all their work.

We need to keep going until it isn't a surprise that companies and brands don't retouch their photos. The day that it isn't groundbreaking to see people who look like real people modeling clothing is the day that we've reached a huge milestone.

Until then, Aerie's going to pioneer a new era of clothing brands. And I'm so excited to see what they do next.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
