Remember when we were little & our mom picked out our outfits everyday & we could care less what we wore,

We didn't even know the brand of it,

It wasn't the focus,

Our focus was having fun, enjoying life, and being happy doing simple things,

The focus was not our appearance,

Now everything has changed to the other side of the spectrum,

Every single thing is based on how “pretty” you are, if you have the top brands, the hottest boys, the richest parents,

Nothing is about who you actually are,

Nothing about who you are under the surface,

The real you, not the superficial one,

Not the one who tries to fit in,

It's so unhealthy for our society to be like this,

People are killing themselves because they are made fun of because they don't fit the "criteria" made by someone,

Who clearly used their insecurities and ugly heart to put others down,

What does that make them?

Oh wait, it doesn't matter because they are pretty. right?

Wrong,

But we are taught to believe the opposite,

You see a girl and you both glare at each other,

Whose prettier? whose skinnier? how many guys want you vs. her?

It's the competition that's all it's based on,

You rip yourself apart looking at these super models who have had professionals do their makeup for hours and photoshopped pictures,

Comparing yourself to someone whose been edited,

But no one tells you that,

If you aren't to their standards you are still equally beautiful,

But I think so,

I've felt terrible about myself just as much as you,

I've compared myself to so many people,

But I finally learned something once I found my self worth,

Everyone, even those who I'm not fond of are worth so much in this world and we are all here for a reason,

We can't waste it,

We are all the same,

Just trying to survive our teenage years,

It almost feels like we are living in a fake world,

Among all these rules you can't break because it will go against what society wants you to be,

You are so beautiful,

Don't let some standard keep you from believing that,

Please stop tearing your self apart,

Close the photo of the girl you are comparing yourself to,

No one in this world will ever be you,

Understand that,

Use every negative word thrown your way as power to get back on your feet,

No one deserves to feel so insecure about themselves,

Your life is a gift,

You are meant to be here,

Don't let an opinion define your life,

It will take time but you will find your worth and love yourself again,

I know you will,

You will learn as you get older how important it is to plainly be yourself,

Your heart is beautiful and I would rather have that than fall under the definition of pretty.
