I've been in a position where I wished someone told me something before I had to learn it for myself. For example, my first year of college. Being a freshman is a learning experience, you find out things about yourself and others that you never knew. Here are things that I learned during my freshman year. I hope it helps you out.

1. Get a Fake ID

You might have heard your friends talking about ordering fakes, or you may not know at all, but definitely order a Fake ID. You don't want to be that person who doesn't have a fake. Even if it seems too early, its not. If you think you won't need one, you're wrong. Spend the money and buy one. You will regret it if you don't.

2. Do not bring a lot of clothes

Those closets are SMALL. You will be packing your closet to it's breaking point. Do not bring more than 5 pairs of shoes and you will only be wearing leggings and a t-shirt. If you think you will be dressing nice everyday, you're so wrong. Just don't bring 13 dresses and 20 pairs of heels. There is no room.

3. You will need a lot of money

Freedom is expensive. You should work A LOT this summer. You will need at least 500 dollars a semester in spending money. Textbooks, sororities and fraternities, going to the mall when you're bored, shots at the bar, going out to eat, etc. it all adds up.

4. Don't buy the textbooks until after classes start

Some classes, you will use your textbook every day. Other classes, they tell you to get the textbook and you NEVER use it. I would wait out the first week of classes to see if they assign any homework in the textbook. If they don't assign homework in the textbook the first or second week, it's most likely they never will.

5. Download the Uber App (and know how to use it)

Your first couple of weeks, you'll want to make friends and find your niche. That means you'll probably be going out a lot, which requires Uber. At Sacred heart, Uber is life. But you probably won't know how to use it at first (at least I didn't). I remember the first week at college, me and my friends didn't split the Uber and one of us was charged 50 dollars. So be careful that you know how to Uber correctly.

6. Join Clubs

JOIN CLUBS! You have to put yourself out there or you will not meet anyone! Break out of your comfort zone because no one is judging you if you want to be in math club. Just join.

7. Join Greek Life

I would definitely recommend rushing in the fall. I didn't rush my freshman year and I regretted it completely. Sign up for fall recruitment!

8. Bring a bathing suit

You may not think to bring a bathing suit to college, but SHU is right down the road from Fairfield beach. And in the fall, it's hot! You'll definitely end up hitting the beach at one point.

9. You may need a new computer

College requires A LOT of storage. SO, you may need to put away your old high school one and get a new one.

10. Get a Mac

11. When you forget your laundry

The LAST thing you want is your underwear all over the laundry room because someone took out your stuff. Set an alarm and DO NOT FORGET ABOUT YOUR LAUNDRY. It's annoying for you and the rest of the floor.

12. Request Seton or Merton hall

You do not want roncalli unless you enjoy long walks to class every morning. Seton and Merton Hall are right next to the main academic building and linda's. It takes at most 5 minutes to get to class. Ronc is probably a 20 minute walk.

13. The 3rd and 4th floors are co-ed

Sooooo, that's another thing to think about when requesting where you dorm!

14. Don't go random with a roommate

You never know who you'll get stuck with so it's best you find one. Just go on the Facebook page, every one is looking for a roommate so don't be afraid to reach out.

15. Don't be shocked if you get a triple

A lot of my friends got stuck in a triple, but it's not the end of the world. Just know that it's more common than you'd think.

16. The Security Guards are annoying

Freshman year is a little bit like prison.

You'll be trying to sneak in alcohol and they'll say "can I check your bag"

In order to avoid this, don't sneak in alcohol past 4:00. And They won't remember that you live there for the first 3 months so be prepared to explain yourself. Have your ID card ready.

Also, if you're having an overnight guest, in order to avoid getting an overnight pass, make sure you sign him in before 2 AM.

17. Your schedule may suck, so change it while you can

18. Don't go to 63's between 2 and 6

Breakfast is there but once it hits 1:30 they take away the food and the lunch is nasty (if there is any lunch). The dinner comes outa little after 6:00.

19. You will get written up

So just be careful if you're in a room with loud music and alcohol, you run for the hills. Once you hear an unexpected knock on the door, you don't want to get written up for noise AND alcohol.

20. Have fun!

College is a learning curve, especially your freshman year. You will learn a lot more than what i've stated, but don't forget to have fun in the process!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
