Advice For Future College Freshman As Told By Elle Woods

The last few months of high school can be tedious, especially when you're receiving college acceptance letters on the daily, and you're getting super excited for your future! My advice? Take a deep breath. Freshman year is a whole other roller coaster. Some things will stay the same, some things will definitely change, but at the end of the day, stay true to yourself and enjoy this time! Don't sweat the small stuff, because everything will work out exactly as it's meant to.

1. Needless to say, you're pretty optimistic.

2. The acceptance letters start coming in quickly, and you're pleasantly surprised by the plethora of options you have!

3. Summer comes around, and you're so excited to do this whole college thing. You get slightly cocky, because how hard can it really be, right?

4. You've been stalking Pinterest for months, and basically bought out PB Teen -- it's move-in day, and nothing gets left behind.

5. You're inevitably homesick the first few nights, but it's nothing that fluffy pillows, chick flicks, and chocolate can't fix!

6. First impressions are everything, so you start your first day off right with a cute outfit. Not to mention, you buy every textbook required for your courses. (Don't worry, little freshman, you have a lot to learn, because sooner or later you'll be booking it to class 10 minutes late dressed to the nines in yoga pants and a sweatshirt, and maybe even a pencil if you're lucky!)

7. You constantly run into people on campus you know deserve to be at this school way more than you do. Sometimes, they even know it too.

8. You meet your orientation group, and you either hit the jackpot and find your new best friends, or pray to God that there are other normal people on campus hiding out somewhere.

9. Oh, you're probably more than excited to go to class right now.

10. But before you know it, this will be you. Just you wait.

11. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but guys don't change in the summer between senior year and high school. Not at all. Not even a little bit.

12. Finding your new crowd can be tough, but sooner or later you'll realize that the best thing you can do is be true to who you are, and the right people will find their way to you.

13. What spring quarter looks like, and what you'll look forward to all year:

14. Sometimes, getting all dressed up for parties is more fun than the party itself!

15. Sweatpants, homework, and girl talk -- college, by definition.

16. You have your priorities, so you'll study anywhere.

17. And by anywhere, I mean anywhere.

18. Theme nights are everything. College kids live for them, and we go full out or go home (drunk, that is).

19. Exams are undoubtedly all-consuming and horrible.

20. But there are some perks -- you feel super smart and confident after sleepless nights of studying!

21. And who knows? Maybe you'll be a star and exceed everyone's expectations. I know I did.

22. No matter how bad things get, a manicure can make everything feel better. Track down the go-to places in your college town, because sometimes, a little R and R is the perfect medicine.

23. Getting a good grade calls for much celebration! Just don't be that person who complains about getting a 92 percent. Promise?

24. Your friends from home don't fully understand your new life, but stay confident and don't ever doubt yourself.

25. Guys certainly don't change after high school, and guess what? Girl's don't either. The popular bitchy girl might have a new face and a new name, but deep down, she's just the same. Don't let her get to you!

26. It's OK to make this face. Two times an hour. At least.

27. Be kind to everyone, get involved, and take risks because if you're lucky, you could walk away from all this with your best friends and bright future!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
