Now that December has arrived it is time to start up the holiday shopping once again. With jam-packed stores and rushing swarms of people, it’s no wonder why this season can be emotionally draining. Not to mention shopping for the perfect gift for every single loved one in your life. This season can easily be classified as a financial burden for many, especially for college students who are practically broke. Here are my suggestions for making this holiday stress free.
1. Set time aside strictly for YOU every day
A lot of emphases this time of year is on giving to others. While it is important, don’t forget about yourself. Whether it is in the morning, afternoon or night do something that makes you happy. Watch your favorite Christmas movie, cook, bake, play a game, or just snuggle up by the toasty fire and relax. No matter how chaotic of a day you have had out shopping, always make time for yourself.
2. Don’t shop on an empty stomach
Who wants to shop while they are starving? To save yourself the torture, make sure you eat before you head out on your shopping adventures.
3. Caffeine is your friend
I don’t know about you, but caffeine always gives me the motivation to get things accomplished. No matter what time of the day, it has never let me down. So if you are finding yourself with no incentive to get out, grab some coffee. You will most likely gain a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm.
4. Budgeting is also your friend
Make smart decisions on how much money you can spend and still be financially stable. As tempting as it will be to go above and beyond with purchasing gifts, don’t do it. Organize yourself with budgets to help you not overspend. Making wise decisions will keep you from spending too much money on unnecessary things.
5. The Dollar Store is your BEST Friend
You would be utterly surprised to see what dollar stores have to offer. Just to name a few: greeting cards, wrapping paper, gift boxes, decorations, candles, snow globes, and so much more. So if you are on a tight budget, I promise you the dollar store will not let you down.
6. Cherish special time with loved ones
Don’t let the stress of holiday shopping get the best of you. Spend quality time with the most valuable thing in life: your friends and family.
