Life is full of open doors that can lead you to new opportunities. Therefore, be brave and take risks because after all, nothing can substitute experience. My advice for you is to put your phone down, step out of your comfort zone, go on adventures and find yourself; you'd be surprised about what you are missing out on. The world is yours and adventure awaits everywhere you go.
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
There is so much beauty in the little things, from a simple sunset to the view from the top of a mountain or even out the window of a plane. Once you put away the phone and look beyond the screen it feels like you become one with the world in front of you. With open eyes and an open mind, you experience things at a new level that is truly overwhelming (in a good way).
Fill your life with experiences, not things. Have stories to tell, not things to show.
Recently I traveled with my best friend across the country. We live exactly 4,066 miles away from each other. She lives in Fairbanks, Alaska and me in Livingston, Texas. Coming to Alaska was definitely a new experience that I am extremely thankful to be able to have gotten the chance to do. While I was here I went on some little and big adventures with my best friend and her sister. Some are things I could do at any time back home, while others not so much. However, every experience really brought me to a new peace within myself that I cannot wait to travel to other places this summer and see what they have in store for me.
"To travel is to take a journey into yourself." -Danny Kaye
An experience that I truly enjoyed was yoga. Yoga is so peaceful and it truly "is a journey of the self, through the self to the self" (The Bhagavad-Gita). During this time I felt at one with myself and every stress, worry and thought had escaped from within and was no where to be found. With every inhale and exhale I went into a deeper sense of self and it brought me so much relaxation and peace. I left the class with a clear mind and happy, it is a great thing for your body and soul. Yoga is definitely something I will continue.
"Yoga is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are." -
Another experience was hiking. Yes, I have been hiking in Texas, but it does not compare to the hikes in Alaska. It is definitely a journey that never seems to end, but the destination and the views are worth the climb. Once you reach the top of the mountain, close your eyes, breathe in the fresh air, and take in the chill breeze, there is no other place you would want to be. Then you open your eyes and look at the view of the mountains for miles. With the sky painted in blue and white or toward sunset when the sky is blue with hues of pink, orange, and yellow; with the clouds streaked across the colors of the wind. It is breathtaking and the beauty amazes you. When you are standing there just looking at the wonders of nature you feel at one with the earth and it is an experience that I would not trade for anything.
Climb mountains not so the world can see you, but so you can see the world.
Adventure awaits, you just have to go out and find it. One must take adventures in order to know where you belong. After all, life is a journey and what you do with that journey and where you let it take you is up to you. So make it count, get out of your comfort zone, travel, and find your true self. Take that bucket list of yours and make it happen. Do not be afraid because if you never try, you'll never know what you're capable of. The world is beautiful and has so many self learning opportunities that will amaze you. Therefore, take a step back, put away the phone and go find the adventure that is awaiting you.
Try something new every day, it feeds the soul. Namaste.
