While most either stick with the classic chocolate advent calendar or get into the festive season with nothing but decorations and holiday music, some get ready for the season by receiving and giving themselves merry luxuries.

For those of you dissatisfied with chocolate, here are some holiday treats that will leave you broke before you do any of your Christmas shopping. And obviously, most of us poor college kids have no money to pay for food, let alone expensive festive advent calendars. But everyone can dream, right? Here is a list of different kinds of advent calendars, that - let's be real - even if we did have money we'd probably spend it on other things, but we can do what we do best and browse for things we'll never afford to buy anyway.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from.
