I'm An Adult Who Is Obsessed With Disney World: Here's Why

It's a lot more than just rides and characters.

I'm An Adult Who Is Obsessed With Disney World: Here's Why

Over spring break, my family and I went on yet another vacation to Disney World. This is my family’s favorite place to vacation. We take smaller trips throughout the year, but this is one of the only places we go for bigger trips. Many times people will ask us, “Don’t you want to go anywhere else?” Sometimes I'll answer back with, “Why? Disney has everything!” But most times I just laugh, because unless you have the obsession with Disney that we do, you'll never understand.

Before leaving for this vacation, I got asked if we were taking any kids with us. When I told them no, I was told that it was really weird that we weren't. A lot of people who have never been to Disney World don't realize that while there are a lot of things for kids to do at the parks, there are also a lot of things for guests of all ages. Resort (and bar) hopping, Broadway caliber shows, thrill seeking attractions, you name it and Disney World has it. My dad always likes to say you turn into a kid again once you are there, too. I would have to agree. So in a way, I guess we did have a few kids on the trip. And by the way, I'm 20 and I still get teary eyed when I meet Cinderella (true story).

Walt Disney first created Disneyland in California because he wanted a place where he could have fun and spend time with his daughters while they had fun, too. This eventually expanded into Disney World in Orlando. This is the connection I feel with Disney World as well. Family values are spread throughout the entire resort, and every detail is nothing short of perfect. Not only that, but I feel like it is one of the safest theme parks in the world as well. My brother and I, even before we were as old as we are now, would take the bus from our resorts to the parks when our parents were tired and needed a break.

The convenience that Disney World provides is another reason to love it. Buses to take you from your resort to different parks, and from select locations, boats or the monorail. For someone who's dad drives most of the day for a living, not having to drive the entire vacation allows him to relax and not have to step foot in the car from the time we arrive to the time we leave. The offering of dining plans and different rates means you can personalize your vacation to suite you and you family. Also, fast passes give you the option to wait in a shorter line for certain rides throughout the day, which gives you more time to do other things in the parks. Sure, this all takes a bit of planning, but if you know what you're doing it makes your vacation so much easier and virtually care free once you arrive on property.

You also don't feel like just another patron spending money at a park when you visit. Cast members truly go above and beyond to make dreams come true and give every family at least one special memory that they will never forget. Wether it be asking for special participation in shows, or just calling little girls and boys princes and princesses, Disney World cast members make the guest feel special. Who doesn't want to feel special?

So please, don't say I only love Disney because I've never been anywhere else. Instead, read what I have to say above, and if you can, go yourself. Then let me know how you feel about it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
