Being An Adult Is Actually The Best Because Of These 11 Reasons

Being an adult is not "all work and no play," it can actually be really exciting.

Once you graduate high school, you are thrown into the adult word (or partially if you are going to be a college student). It consists of a lot of work, and making ends meet. You hear it constantly from those around you, "being an adult is no fun" or "now you are just to work your life away." Yes, becoming an adult is not as fun as when you were in school, but it's not the end of the world like it's made out to be. There is actually a lot of pros to becoming an adult.

1. You make all the decisions.

OK, yes some decisions are hard to make because you were used to your parents making them. However, you can literally make every decision on your own without anyone's approval. It's finally nice to do the things you want to at the times you want to.

2. You can finally afford the things you want.

Unfortunately it can stink having to work so much now, but you finally have a solid paying job with a steady income. There will always be bills you'll need to pay, but by budgeting right you finally have a good portion of disposable income. That means you can finally buy the things you want or spend a little extra money on quality items.

3. You can take out a loan.

With that full time job actually comes a perk: You don't necessarily need a cosigner on a loan. That makes it easier for you to get a loan so you can get that new car you've been eyeing up, or finally purchasing that house with your significant other.

4. You don't have to buy cheap products anymore.

This is more aimed at college students, but you finally will have enough money to afford those ingredients to make that homemade mac and cheese rather than the $1.50 box of the fake stuff.

5. You don't have to constantly check your bank account.

Although you should be managing your money and keeping track of it as an adult, you don't need to check it as often as you may have in college or when you were just starting out. You don't have to worry about your bank account having only $2 in it.

6. You can finally get your own fur-baby.

Even though you may have had a dog or cat or some other pet as a child, you can finally pick out your own and take care of it all on your own. This is some major responsibility, but such an adorable and fun one.

7. You can live where YOU want to live.

I know lots of people who say they can't wait to leave their hometown. Well now that you're an adult you can finally choose where you want to live, and where you will best be happy.

8. No more school!

Need I explain more? You are finally getting paid for you work, rather than paying an institution to take tests that stress you out.

9. You can make everything yours.

Now you can finally make your apartment, car, etc. your's by decorating it the way you want! You can also go as crazy or lazy as you wish with decorating.

10. You can choose your friends.

You might not think about it, but when you were younger and had to get rides from your parents to a friend's house they had to first meet your friend and their parents. Your parent pretty much told you who you can and can't hang out with. Now the choice is all yours!

11. You can cut off toxic people.

It's always a hard thing to do, especially if it's family, but you may have grown up where you had a toxic person in your life that you just wanted to get away from. Now you can finally cut them off and leave them in the past. This is your life you can now create.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
