13 Things You Shouldn't Say To Adult Disney Fans

Growing up, a majority of us watched Disney and Pixar movies. I mean really, what child didn’t? If you didn’t…could you really even say you had a childhood? As I grew older, my love for Disney grew as well. I was able to fully understand and grasp the movies. I started to take interest in how the animations were made, who were the voice actors, and who made the music. As a 19-year-old college student, I constantly get asked questions pertaining to Disney. I’m tired of hearing them and I’m 100% sure every other adult Disney fan is too.

1. “Disney is for children, why are you so obsessed?”

I was a child at one point and my love for Disney will never leave. When I'm older, I'll probably be more excited than my children when a new movie comes out.

2. “How many times have you seen this movie?

Probably ten within the last year, and probably even more this year.

3. “Can you be something else besides a Disney character for Halloween?”

When else am I going to dress up like Princess Kida?

4. “Are you really thinking about naming your child that?”

Back off, Ariel is a cute name and has nothing to do with The Little Mermaid.

5. “You’ll never find a significant other who will tolerate your love for Disney.”

HA. My significant other will love Disney. There are thousands of people who are just like me and there’s a good chance I’ll end up with one.

6. “He/She is a cartoon character! Why do you think he’s cute?!”

I mean honestly, have you looked at Prince Naveen and Prince Eric? They are gorgeous and so are their real life counterparts. Also, just look at how cute real life Peter Pan is.

7. “Why is your Netflix full of Pixar and Disney movies?”

Why the hell not? I watch Disney like it’s my job. It’s always just very relaxing and calming. I can get work done when I have those movies on. I enjoy them as background noise.

8. “Is that a Disney tattoo? Please tell me it isn’t.”

Oops, there it is! I have no shame in getting a Disney tattoo. I may or may not have a Lion King tattoo (Sorry mom and dad!).

9. “I’ve never seen [insert movie name]. Is it any good?”

I need a moment. I can’t answer you right now because all I want to do is cry, scream, and hit you. How have you NOT seen that movie?

10. “Is that a quote from Disney?”

No…not at all. I don’t quote Disney daily.

11. “Will you please stop running and singing ‘Colors of the Wind’?”

Absolutely not. I love that song and this fall weather is perfect.

12. “You do realize that Disney teaches girls that they have to change for a guy to love them, right?”

*clears throat* I could go on for days about this, but I don’t agree. Princess Tiana wanted her own restaurant. Mulan saved her father and eventually saved freaking China, come on. Princess Merida wanted to find her own fate. Rapunzel wanted to find her family. Three out of the four found love, but it wasn’t something they were looking for. It came to them.

13. “Why do you need it on VHS, DVD, AND Blu Ray?”

Why not? If something happens, I have multiple copies and can watch it wherever I want.

If you guys are some of the people asking these questions, I have one thing to say to you - DON’T. We’re tired of having to explain ourselves. Let us love Disney in peace. Now, is anyone else super excited for the new Disney movies coming out this year? I know I am. I’ll see the rest of you guys there!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
