What Adopting Really Means

I have endlessly asked this question to many people out of mere curiosity: Would you ever adopt? What I usually get in return is either: "I am going to have my own, so I don't need to" or "That is for people who can't conceive or for the rich, maybe."

What does adopting really mean? Well, it means giving a home to a child — not only a home but an education and a family. It means giving love to somebody who doesn't have it, but needs it. It means creating a bond that is not made by blood but by heart. Not only that, it means giving a person the gift of a happy life.

It is something admirable to adopt only because it shows that humanity isn't dead and that we are still able to care about others outside our own circle. Adopting means sacrifice and putting extra amounts of love into a person. Adopting means less children abandoned, suffering and growing up in poverty and other deplorable conditions.

It is the process of caring about what happens to society. Adopting is a beautiful thing that does not discriminate against anything and doesn't care what others may think or say.

It is the making of better human beings. It is part of a big project to make the world a beautiful place.

We tend to forget that a child is never to blame for being born; and even if we were to remember, we are incapable to look and see that they represent the future, a future that will be shattered by the absence of guidance, love and education. That being said: THEIR future is also, in fact, OUR future.

Does it matter if you can have kids of your own? Of course it doesn't. The strongest bonds do not come from blood.

It shouldn't be expensive to adopt. The destiny of a child should never be determined by money. It should be accessible so that it can happen more often, so people could give more homes and more love to those who were born without it. Money should not be the impediment. Adopting, in and of itself, is a wonderful thing and something that should have no price tag attached.

No, there are no cons in adopting. Not only you get to give love, but you will also get it in return. Not only it is a kind, admirable act, but it also benefits society as it helps in the formation of righteous human beings.

Adopting is what makes people remember that we are not but a single race. Adopting equals human.

WARNING: Can only be achieved by the strongest, yet kindest people. Requires some extra heart. Will bring extreme happiness along with a few joy tears.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
