Adele's 'Hello' Lyrics Are Relatable To Mid-Semester Assignments

Raise your hand if you heard Adele's new song. *raises hand* Raise your hand if you're still listening to her song on. *raises hand* Like many, I'm so excited she's back again and can't wait for her album to come out. Out of nowhere, while listening to "Hello," I thought..."This can be related to mid-semester work." Specifically for any assignment due from this point to the end of the semester.

1. "Hello, it's me."

One assignment after the other...

2. "I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet."

Years, it's a stretch, maybe a few weeks. Nope, I still don't want to on this assignment yet. *puts book back on shelf*

3. "To go over everything."

Let's work on this... nope, this wasn't taught in class. How do I do this? Struggling a little bit.

4. "They say that time's supposed to heal ya, but I ain't done much healing."

In other words, stress comes with each additional assignment.

5. "Hello, can you hear me?"

This is due two classes from now? Nope, I can't bring myself to hear this.

6. "I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be."

When everything was so easy and didn't require late nights.

7. "When we were younger and free."

When nap time was the best time and there were no worries at all.

8. "I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet."

World falling? Yeah, the day nap times weren't a thing anymore. Also, the day every teacher gave you so much work you didn't really know how to handle it all.

9. "There's such a difference between us, And a million miles."

Wait... a day off? I can relax for a little bit. Not a bad idea.

10. "Hello from the other side, I must've called a thousand times."

I'll eventually get things done. Maybe days before, maybe the night before.

11. "To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done, But when I call you never seem to be home."

Sorry for the late nights and early mornings? Nope, not today. *side eyes*

12. "Hello from the outside, At least I can say that I've tried."

When assignments just won't go away... how rude...

13. "To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart, But it don't matter. It clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore."

*Walks away because assignments just keep going on and on*

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
