It is summer time, now what to do with the kids all day? Even though I am not a mom, but a nanny, I find myself asking this question on a daily basis. Especially living in a small town, there is only so much a child can repeat twenty times. Therefore, between Calvert County and Annapolis, I have been able to find free and cheap ideas to do with the kids. Keeping three, sometimes four kids busy is not as easy as it may seem.
Calvert Marine Museum:
(Located on Solomon’s Island road)
Children under 5 are Free
Children 5-12 are $4
Adults are $9
Hours- 10am until 5pm
They have a chance to not only look at the Skates and the Stingrays, but also to pet them. There’s a room designed specifically for children which has a lighthouse to climb, digging for fossils, a boat, animals to pet and see, and an upstairs that contains rope tying and other educational resources. Then, there is an area of the museum where you can walk along and see fossils, fish, jellies and there are other children’s activities such as coloring and hearing fish noises. If you are lucky, you even have a chance to see the Otters! They have special times when they are outside; which normally isn't for long. Also, the lighthouse is open during certain times frames, but you are able to go inside and tour it. Sometimes there are boat rides too. This place has a little bit of everything for children and adults.

There are also events that take place here, it just depends on the date of the scheduled activities.
