While yes, Second City is hilarious, and this city will definitely be a stopping ground for most major major artists on tour, or plays currently on the Broadway stage, the attractions don't stop there!
1. Parks
A lot of my friends who visit Chicago from different cities frequently have commented that Chicago - especially during the summer - is one of the greenest metropolises that they've visited. Soon, in the summer, there will be plenty of usually free events going on within the local parks, but that doesn't mean they should be ignored until the events start up! Parks are always a free option and should be heavily utilized now that we're finally seeing the good weather.
And soon... the beach!
2. Other city tours
While this may be a more 'touristy' option, Chicago has played host to many historical and recent events. Options of such tours could be a film location tour, since Chicago has played host to some great cinematic masterpieces. Or else the crime tour, as Chicago is world-renown for its mob history. There are plenty of other options, which can cater to one's personal interests as well.
3. Museums
Learn more about the city where you live! If the history itself doesn't interest you, try the art, or science-based museums. Most of them have free entry days, especially for students and other residents.
4. FOOD
If you live here, you should already know that Chicago is the food capital of the Midwest. If you're not a picky eater, pick up a guidebook of restaurants across various cuisines to try. Doing so will probably get you to explore more neighborhoods of the city, as well.

5. Look for additional events
One of the things I love the most about Chicago, and the reason I needed to move to a big city, is because something is always going on. Following the right social media will grant awareness of events going on around the city - such as neighborhood festivals - particularly in the summer, food truck socials, bar crawls, comedy shows with free or discounted entry, jazz shows, and more!
The list doesn't stop there, and the more you explore the more you'll find. Think about what your interests are and how you can incorporate them in things going on around you. If you're like me, then you're are generally happier when you're out and about and engaging in the town and communities around you.
