10 Fun Activities To Do When Visiting Atlanta, GA

I've lived in Atlanta my whole life so I've seen a lot and done a lot of things here. If you look past all the crazy traffic and maybe a couple of crazy drivers, Atlanta has some really cool places to visit and see. There are a lot of things to do if you're here with family or even friends.

If you're ever in town visiting Atlanta here are 10 fun activities to do!

1. Visit the Coke Museum

When I was in elementary school we would go here for field trips a lot, but I've also visited with my family too. It's a fun experience for everyone. They have how they make the glass bottles, where they keep the secret formula and even a whole floor where you can try different sodas from around the world. Plus you get a chance to meet the Coca-Cola polar bear himself!

2. Visit the Georgia Aquarium

After you visit the Coke Museum head on over to the aquarium! This aquarium is huge and will pretty much take you the whole day to visit. In the aquarium, they have this whole walkthrough area where it's a tunnel, but above you is a tank where you can see all sorts of fish swimming and you might even catch a glimpse of the whale shark. Also, one fun part about the aquarium is when you go to visit the penguins there is a little penguin hole you can climb up to where it shows what a penguin feels like. Lastly, something I have never seen, but have known they have added it, is the Dolphin Show, I've heard many people really enjoy it.

3.Visit the Atlanta Zoo

I have also been here for field trips when I was in elementary school and still enjoy it whenever I go and visit again. Once again it is a great experience for everyone and there is so much to do there besides going around and visiting all the animals. They always have events going on for kids where they can learn about the animals more in-depth. Also, you should give them a follow on their Snapchat @zooatl because they're always posting videos and photos of their animals and what can get better than that?!

4. See a show at the Fox Theater

I've seen many shows at the Fox Theater and it's a very fun experience each time. There are always shows that are new to the theater or coming back to the theater because people just loved seeing them so much. What also is fun to do before you go see a show is going to dinner somewhere around The Fox since it is close to many nice restaurants.

5. Go down to Ponce City Market

I've only been down here once, but just that one time I could see it was a really cool place. There is everything you could imagine here. From shopping to food, everything is so different from what you would usually see at restaurants or shops. Plus you could never get bored here because there is so much to do. Once you're done eating you can go shopping and after that, you can get some dessert all in the same area.

6. Shop at the Avalon

Though this is actually not in downtown Atlanta it is still a really nice place to visit, especially if you enjoy shopping. Although it has much more than shopping, there are restaurants, a movie theater and places to just sit and chat with your friends after you're done eating. It is also pretty new so they keep adding new things to it.

7. Visit the Battery/Go to a Braves game

I'm going to be completely honest and say I am not a baseball fan whatsoever, but I do have to say the Battery is really fun and cool to go too. They have some really good restaurants in the battery and they even have boutiques to shop at. Plus they always have music and interactive games for anyone waiting around for the game to start. The baseball game itself is fun too if you're a big baseball fan, but I went with my friends so we had a good time trying to get on the jumbotron.

8. Go to Six Flags

If you love roller coasters and classic fair games this is the place for you. Six Flags is home to one of the biggest and fastest roller coaster, Goliath, a rollercoaster for daredevils which is actually called Dare Devil Dive, and one of the oldest wooden rollercoasters Scream Machine. Six Flags also has a kids area with some of the less scary rides if you're coming with younger kids. If you go in the summer be prepared to take breaks every now and then and drink lots of water, also be glad there is a lot of shade which makes standing in line not as bad.

9. Go to White Water

If you're not a rollercoaster fan but enjoy water rides then White Water is the place for you! White Water is a great place to go if you're coming with a large crowd because there are many rides where multiple people can sit in the tubes, there are also single rider rides, and two rider rides. It also has two great rides called Tornado and Run-A-Way River, which are big rides, but I wouldn't really say they are that scary to go on. Just like Six Flags, White Water also has a kids area which has mini slides and is good for younger kids.

10. Visit the High Museum of Art

This is another place I would go to for field trips in middle school. If you love to explore art and learn about famous paintings, this is the place for you! Besides this museum being filled with incredible paintings it's just a really cool place to visit. Everything in the museum and surrounding it is vibrant with color. It's a great place for the whole family to visit too!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
