I Accepted a Position with the Disney College Program

Once you're accepted into DCP, a lot of feelings and emotions come at you at once.

Disney is “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” but it becomes even more special when you get to make the magic happen.

The Disney College Program is a special internship opportunity for college students, allowing them not only to become Disney employees, but to also take classes and network with the largest media company in the world. This paves the way for a chance to become a professional intern, or even to gain full time employment with the Disney company.

I was fortunate and excited to receive an email over spring break: “Congratulations! You have been accepted into the Disney College Program!” I will be proud to call myself a Disney employee starting in August.

Here’s a little look into what the stages of being accepted into the Disney College Program is like:

1. Shock

When you first see your email or postcard, your jaw drops. It’s been WEEKS since your application process and phone interview…so long you’ve almost forgotten it was coming (ALMOST). You completely aren’t expecting it.

2. Disbelief

What?!? You can’t believe it! It doesn’t seem possible or real! Do dreams really come true like this?

3. Screaming (aka Excitement)

A big goofy smile spreads across your face and you may experience an unintentional shriek. There’s lots of jumping a dancing around as you call your mom and tell her the big news.

4. Panic

As soon as you hang up the phone, the doubt sets in. And doubt turns to stress, and stress turns to panic. What if it’s too hard? How can you make it a whole semester or more away from your friends, family, and classes? Is this REALLY and TRULY what you want??

6. Excitement (again)

You get over stage four pretty quickly and immediately transition into excitement again as you run and tell friends, professors, strangers…everyone.

7. Happiness

Easily the best stage as you start to feel the magic of the Happiest Place on Earth…months before your arrival date!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
