The only limit to creativity is your imagination, combined with your drive and determination to act on that creativity. Walk off the Earth is a prime example of how you can create absolutely outstanding works of art from your own creative mind. I wanted to shine some light onto just how amazing these covers are, and highlighted five of their greatest covers to date.
Hello was the cover that made me discover Walk off the Earth. It was shared on Facebook, and after I watched it for the first time, I shared it on my own Facebook account. Throughout the rest of the day, I was showing the video to absolutely everyone I could. In fact, I even convinced three teachers to show the video the class. It is such a cool way to do a cover. Every time I watched this cover, I was noticing new things. It’s a super cool video, and one that definitely earns Walk off the Earth some major credit.
Perhaps even more impressive than using whippy tubes and tap dancing to cover a song, Walk off the Earth actually did a cover while one of them was in labor. If you want to see Sarah Blackwood and her baby, you can cut to the end of the video where she reveals that she was in labor during the time of filming. Watching the video, you can definitely tell she is pregnant, but there isn’t one inclination that she is in labor! The cover turned out fantastic, and has an even greater story behind it.
Walk off the Earth loves to get creative with their covers, and Closer is no exception. A ton of people are, or at least were at one point in time, obsessed with this song. Little did you know that adding kazoos into the song would only make a hundred times better.
Even more “simple” covers by Walk off the Earth are incredible. The whole video is a beat-boxing party, and one you probably shouldn’t miss. The stage presence possessed by Walk off the Earth shines ultra bright in this video. Even if you aren’t the biggest Taylor Swift fan reading this, it is really hard to not enjoy the direction Walk off the Earth took I Knew You Were Trouble.
You probably wouldn’t have thought a tour bus would be the perfect place to shoot a cover video, but you are wrong my friend. Walk off the Earth takes Omi’s Cheerleader and puts a fun spin on it completely from the comfort of their tour bus. It is amazing to see how artists can make so much out of whatever they have laying around. From pleasant keys changes to a ton of creativity, this cover of Cheerleader is a video packed full of awesomeness.
If you’ve enjoyed these covers, you should definitely dive deeper into exploring the music created by Walk off the Earth. In addition to these covers, they have a ton more, as well as some original music. Their Twitter can be found here, and their YouTube can be found here.
