I’m not exactly the kind of person that is against most issues that are going on in the world. But I am against dying. I agree that with everything going on in the world and all of the violence there has been over the past few years, we’re all scared —that’s normal. But do we actually know who is carrying a weapon?
Call me old fashioned, but what ever happened to a good ol’ fist fight? Not that I’m encouraging people to get into frequent physical fights, but when it comes down to it --I would rather have people fighting than people shooting at me. Yes, weapons are easier when it has to do with our country’s enemies and the law enforcement. But they’re the law enforcement for a reason. They have been trained to make use of these weapons properly and where and how to put them safely.
Fun fact: Did you know that there are approximately 270 million firearms owned by civilians, and only 897,000 carried by the police?
80 percent of female gun owners say they feel safer because they own a weapon. But why is this? They never had to own a weapon in the first place if we would actually feel safe in our city, or house. If anyone can own a weapon then everyone will. Living in this border city —El Paso, Texas, almost everyone owns a gun. I was at a gas station putting gas and I see a man with a gun strapped to his pants. What did I do? Weirent crazy and drove like hell out of there. What does this really mean?

The intention of the gun control and allowing anyone to own --in Texas, a gun is supposed to calm people down by giving them a weapon to make them feel safer while they’re out and about. But this is actually causing more chaos than friendliness. Not to mention the safety issues. Anyone who has children knows they do not always listen to you when you say “Don’t touch that”. Ever since this “policy” went live on gun control, there has been more cases where children go to the emergency rooms for accidentally shooting their parents’ gun on one another. Let's not forget about the different school shootings around the country in the different elementary schools, What a tragedy it is for a child to have to go through that while still so young.
This all leads to communication problems, if we all knew how to express our feelings and problems with one another or actually say what was on our mind instead of shooting everyone, we would all be happier, less crazy and there would be less chaos in this country, not to mention -- world.
However, I know that some people use these weapons as a way of sport or a Sunday activity with the family —there’s nothing wrong with that. And of course, it is your given right --your Second Amendment.
I’m not saying to forbid everyone from using firearms, I’m simply trying to say — who are we giving these weapons to?
One has to be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of handling a gun. If a mentally challenged person or someone with deficits can cause damage with a small pencil -- what makes you think they should be carrying a gun?
Before people can actually own a weapon, they should know whether or not they are capable of using it -- for good or for bad.
Like I said, I'm not against anyone having their rights or having protection, but I'm telling specifically the government -- do you know who has a firearm. Or wait, do you even care?
