So as everyone knows there is a story that reached headlines this week, "Woman Stolen at Birth Learns True Identity; 'Momma' Charged" ABCNews.com. This story has been circulating all over social media and every well-known news site. This story is basically about the baby being abducted from a lady who was posing as a nurse, apparently, she had a miscarriage prior to taking the baby. The baby was born in 1998 by Shanara Mobley , who was 16 years old at the time when she had the baby.
Throughout the 90s, it was said that many babies were being taken from the hospital because of their lack of security. Kamiyah Mobley was one of them, her story also reached headlines. Her abduction was probably one of the most famous baby abductions this nation has had. It is still the most famous one because they finally found her, 18 years later. According to ABCNews.com a DNA testing allowed the police to know that Mobley and Williams (The kidnapper) was not related to each other.
Williams is charged with kidnapping and may spend Life in jail if charged. Mobley may testify in court because she has known Williams as her mother. I know some people may be upset because that is not her real mother, but what people need to realize, Williams is all the Mobley knows. The problem is, it's a lot for Kamiyah to take in, she grew up with someone who she thought was her mother but really wasn't. She spent 18 years of her life with this woman who actually took good care of her; it's a lot to process. But the good news is, Mobley has spoken to her biological parents via FaceTime and Shanara cried tears of joy when she saw that her child was healthy and doing well.
One of the saddest parts of this story is that Kamiyah was Shanara's first born. It really doesn't matter that Shanara was a teen when she had Kamiyah. What matters is, she gave birth to a healthy baby who was only a couple hours old when she was taken from her. I couldn't even image what that would feel like, my child taken from me. That is probably one of the worst feelings anyone could ever go through. I am just glad that they found her and she is healthy. I also appreciate that the Hospitals finally took care of their security issues. Because of the hospitals fixing that, less babies are being abducted.
