University of Oklahoma

There is no place on the Earth like the University of Oklahoma. A majority of us are Sooner born and Sooner bred, but when we all die we will be Sooner dead. There is only one Oklahoma, and I am so glad that I get the chance to be a student at this university. The ABC's of the University of Oklahoma are things that all of my fellow Sooners can relate to.

A is for our athletics because nobody else can even compare.

B is for Boomer!

C is for Campus Corner.

D is for DBo (aka President David Boren).

E is for education because technically we are here to get a degree.

F is for Fuzzy's at Campus Corner; fishbowl anyone?

G is for Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

H is for Hield, as in Buddy Hield. He might have graduated, but we still love him.

I is for intramural sports that many students participate in.

J is for Julie Siberts, the first female drum major for the Pride of Oklahoma (Who run the world? Definitely girls.)

K is for the kids that we support through CAC's official philanthropy, Soonerthon.

L is for Lon Kruger our head basketball coach.

M is for (National) Merrit Scholars (DBo's pride and joy).

N is for no parking (literally anywhere on campus).

O is for O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!

P is for the Pride of Oklahoma.

Q is for all of the quiet hours we spend at the Biz (aka the library for those who do not go to OU).

R is for Rah Oklahoma, Rah Oklahoma, Rah Oklahoma, O-K-U!

S is for Sooner!

T is for Thursday nights at Seven's.

U is for the best university on the planet, aka the University of Oklahoma.

V is for victory because we have 32 national championships.

W is for Dede Westbrook, our beloved wide receiver.

X is for all of the X words I do not know, but hey our many National Mert Scholars probably know all of them.

Y is for my fellow Okies that say "y'all."

Z is for I do not know what words start with Z, but hey last year we had two Heisman finalists (Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook). What about you?

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
